I'm not sure about that. The group I was around, myself included, weren't big Kordell fans past his first season as starter when there was excitement over what his legs could bring to the position. But his accuracy was just never there in any consistent manner. The team would have had to remake the offense around him, and no one I remember being around at the time was calling for that. The vitriol was more over why they weren't finding someone better to replace him (the Miller, Tomcak, Graham, etc. experiments all fell flat), but at the time the team's success was still predicated on strong running game and defense, so most of the resources went to maintaining those areas.

Well I can't tell You how many times I heard it was the OCs fault, or we had poor Wrs. Hell I can remember a Monday night game when We had both Plaxico, and Ward on the team , and people saying we had some of the worst Wrs in the league.

Yeah, I'm sure every circle had people with different opinions. I remember a lot who would rage over Kordell and his "wormburner" passes.

People keep wanting to blame the Oline for all the issues, and there is blame that can be placed on it for sure. That said, far more has to be placed directly on the coaching staff for forcing Pickett into a role he can't fill. Defensive Coordinators know that Pickett can't throw down field. To this point in his career he's shown no ability to do so. Because of this, DC's put 8-10 men within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. Aikman even commented on it several times last night. When you have that many defenders on top of the LOS, how do you expect to run the ball? How can you expect a line to block that many defenders?

Pickett really is the issue with the running game. Until he shows he can throw more than 10 yards, nothing is going to change. And I honestly think that until he takes those silly gloves off and starts to play big boy football, he won't be able to throw with any touch or accuracy.

The opposing defenses are stacking the line . Same ole same ole for the last 3 years! I definitely thought with CA3 on field with his speed would spread the field. So far not happening . Defenses are not intimidated by our qb.

This not saying much. Dude he was awful again last night. Missing throws and lucky he only had 1 int, i counted 3 he couldve ended up with.
Something needs to be addressed to help KP settle down. Maybe the niners and browns have best defenses in league? But the Rams definitely moved ball against the niners.
Hopefully KP can get it rolling against the Raiders.

In answer to the OP, yes, you can at least put some blame on Canada. One reason I know is that Mike Tomlin did it yesterday. I pulled the following from an article on The Athletic.

“It starts with coaching,” Tomlin said. “We have to coach better. We have to get these guys playing faster with more fluidity and surer. We have to play more coordinated, especially early in games. We have to anticipate the schematics of those we play against a little bit better. Displaying anticipation is a component of preparedness. We have to put them in really good circumstances, we have to recognize those circumstances and perform.”

Tomlin pointed to the Browns defense early in the game, saying it showed looks the Steelers weren’t anticipating and weren’t able to adjust to quickly enough.

“When you are playing and playing good, you go over those (unexpected looks) like speed bumps,” Tomlin said. “In-game adjustments are a major component of what we do and, probably from a coach’s perspective, your ability to anticipate the potential of that. To tee up that, thus making it more fluid when it does happen.”

The Browns caught the Steelers off guard with their five-man fronts. The Steelers took way too long to adjust. Yes, Pickett still had opportunities to make plays. Yes, he has been really bad the first two weeks. So has the offensive line, but poor planning and the inability to adapt quickly enough by the coaches played an important role in those failures.

Canada is horrible Yes Pickett playing lousy but he’s in 3rd and 10 every series 3 years and still the same horrible offense Big Ben is HOF they blamed his arm bull**** it was the play calls. Canada presents a negative vibe the offense does not trust him. Should have brought in Bienemy off season but that’s for another day. We did not even get a play inside the Cleveland 30 that’s horrible. In my opinion Canada lacks situational awareness but who really knows. Food for thought the other coaches hate Canada look it up !

One thing is Rams, and 9ers are divisional foes....so I knew it probably would be close. The other thing is no matter what anyone thinks about the Rams Qb....He will stretch the field.

Texans have the best Qb to come out of Ohio State in as long as I can remember. It's who I suggested We wait for....as can be seen in that years draft, and comments leading up to it.....until We got KFP.

I don't disagree with you but the marriage also has to fit between the OC's system/philosophy and the strengths of the QB. We've seen QB's click after not being so great with a change in teams or OC's. Sometimes its maturing and getting it and others the fit isnt' great. Personally with your new franchise QB I would think you would want an OC that has proven in this league to have developed a young QB. Canada hasn't done that either in College or the Pro's. No doubt Kenny has regressed and looks like hot garbage against two elite Defenses but the history of Canada's inept offense is clear. Not eating a couple million dollar contract and trying to make a change when I'm betting everything I own they are going to non-renew his contract anyway, so why not rip the band-aid and begin the change now no matter how hard it is.

So if We do it now.....You honestly don't believe that will be the next excuse???
Well they changed His OC, and the Guy that took over didn't know what he was doing.....,, and then when we get a new Oc......well its his 1st year with the new OC....got to give Him another year. Before You know it We are having to pay Him big bucks just to keep Him, and people are still arguing.....Well Hell what do You expect....He's been through 3 OCs. LoL.

As if we are not saying this for 4 years now. „Offense will improve soon“. Well it never has under Randy Fichtners last seasons and has not under Canada since 2021 so my hope that this offense steps up is pretty much zero. Either the defense bails us out each week with a ton of sacks and turnovers or we lose. Easy as that

Start Rudolph. Some deep throws to Austin will back off those heavy boxes. Lol but unfortunately both trubisky and Rudolph aren't very mobile and behind this line they will be sitting ducks.

I think if they don't do it, its because they just dont want to eat the contract or they really think Canada is ok which hard to fathom, because if you are going to replace him anyway why not do it now, unless the guy they want isn't available now so doing interim isn't good, but there is a history of doing it without changing the whole system. They can promote the qb coach and he can add a wrinkle here and there without the wholesale change they might expect with a new guy from outside. I say they get to the bye at most.
