Let's not forget one Hall of Fame quarterback who began his FIFTH season sitting on the bench as a backup to a guy named Joe Gilliam. He finally got to start in the 7th game of the 14-game season and did pretty well for the next decade. I'm not sure I have the patience to wait five years anymore (at my age, at least!!)

A rb will, and have also been called for grasping, and pulling on the face mask

If Nick Chubb doesn't get hurt, Pittsburgh gets blown off the field!

    New regime good sir!

Should Pickett continue to struggle, 2024 is a good place to start to find a new QB. That said, let us wait to see if the struggles continue. Not a great start for Pickett though.. at all.

Should the Browns continue to lose, look for them to be sellers come the Trade Deadline. Seriously not kidding. It isn't just the cap number though...

Players will likely want out of Cleveland. Chief among them is Myles Garrett; someone me, @SteelersFanIrl@SteelersFanIrl and @S.T.D@S.T.D have been stating since the restructure. Trading him though isn't just about saving money. Recouping Draft Picks?!

A much bigger prize. Garrett can command two 1s without much difficulty.

If you go back, the first one wasn't called a facemasking. It was an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, I assume for dragging the defender by the mask and throwing him into the bench while well out of bounds.

You are welcome to be wrong if you want, but if the line is terrible and the receivers are subpar, even a great quarterback can only do so much.

That was a very different league nearly 50 years ago. Quarterbacks don't get that long any more. There is the occasional anomaly like Geno Smith, but he changed teams a few times before he figured it out.

Given his personal history, you would think he should be a pro at beating off defenders legally.

I'm going to give him another couple of games before I start to worry, we all know the issues with this offense so I won't bother going over them. But in a vacuum he's missing too many throws and looks jittery.

It's really hard to be too hard on him when we all know this offense is absolutely diabolically bad.

His college years except the last year were pretty mediocre.

Last night we saw 4 terrible QB performances; Pickett, Watson, Carr and Young. I kept switching channels to try and see a completed pass and I could not. It was frankly embarrassing how bad the QB’s were. Yes the defenses deserve some credit but the same Steelers defense that did not rattle Purdy at all is now the reason Watson sucked? On the other game the announcers kept arguing that Young was going up against one of the top defenses in football in the Saints. Nonsense to both arguments.

The QB’s threw off target, into the ground, way over the receivers, and directly to the other teams. Even on Pickett’s throw to Pickens he was so slow going thru his progression that he almost did not reach Pickens, and did not reach Pickens on an earlier throw when he was wide open. For the only team we care about, something is wrong with Pickett. He was not this inaccurate last season, or at Pitt, or in the pre-season.

And if Pickett had been more accurate it would have been a different game.
If Chubb didn’t get injured it could have been a different game.
If Hardin struggled it would have been a different game.
If bozz shanked a couple it would have been a different game

If he didn’t do the one, Herbig would’ve sacked him for a loss.

That was a weird one, almost like Austin was running that as a go and remembered it was the standard comeback, but had gone too far at that point and lost his footing trying to stop and come back.

You are not allowed to grab facemask, whether your are tackler or runner! If ref sees it, it will be called.

He and Pickett read that play differently. I'm guessing it was Austin who messed that one up, but that's only a guess.

point being if he would have just stiff armed them in the face mask without grabbing it they wouldn't have been put in those holes. He had the yardage but had to be a goof. That saved the Steelers win.

It would be franchise suicide to do so. They have a void year that they already dumped $9M into, so I guess that they could put more there. But that's just playing Russian roulette. If they move on after year 4, that void year gets accelerated into the 5th year. If Watson suddenly turns it around, they can give him and extension or new contract and work that into it. But if he doesn't and they want to move on, the cap hit would be $64M+$9M+ whatever they pushed into it with another restructure.

FINALLY someone in the media is noticing what I've been saying for a year and a half now. The crash from this is going to be epic. The Browns will be a doormat in two years.
