But but, but...he was awesome in the 2nd half of 2022 and in the preseason (against 3rd-team defenses).

Can’t argue that take. Problem with week 1 is it looks like he regressed.

He did, vs. the top D in the NFL. It proves he's not ready/capable of playing against a D like that. The Ds he did "OK" against down the stretch last year were all nothing compared to SF's D. And even vs. the creampuffs he was hardly impressive: 18 PPG, next to last in TDs in the NFL. The good news is going forward we rarely will be going against Ds the quality of SF's. Maybe he will return to putting up 18 PPG or maybe even a little higher, say 20 PPG.

The owner of that team is dead. The team president is dead. The head coach is dead. The NFL is completely different. Rookies were less likely to start, especially at quarterback. Malone didn't become a starter until his fifth year in the league. He was behind Bradshaw, then Stoudt.

Pickett is dealing with a different owner, GM, head coach, and situation. He is also one game into his second season. The situations are so different as to have no relevance to one another. Pickett will probably be on the roster at least four years, but if he doesn't pan out, I expect him to be challenged by 2025 at the latest.

I do not think you are ever going to see them tank, unless they suck so bad to be in a bottom 2 -4 position then it's doubtful they will be in a position for a top QB. If KP's development is mediocre, then I do think the go another route, new OC and even QB coach, plus eyeing decent QB;s in the 3rd round and even making a move up to get him. That might happen anyway as a prepare a guy just in case scenario. i thin KP gets a 3rd year (again unless he just totally bombs), but then you make decision on 5th year option, so that year is pivotal for him to make any talk of extension.

There is a older Pro golfer on the PGA tour who recently won 2 straight tournaments in The Playoffs. (very weird Playoffs) While most golfers wear a glove he said if he wore a glove it would add 10 strokes to his game.

Most of it I’m putting on Canada, it’s play design or lack thereof

You aren't going to do it because you can't. There is no great mystery to your posts that somebody is missing. You either don't know what you are talking about or you aren't bothering to think before you post. You make ill-conceived point after ill-conceived point and you can't handle that I have dismantled some of them, so you try this nonsense. You brought up Mark Malone, who is not relevant to Pickett for the reasons I explained. Maybe you were kidding, but if so, you forgot to include the funny and your subsequent point would then make even less sense than normal.

They aren't going to wait 8 years, but a player needs at least 30 games.

After several last year as well.

All the hype and studying and pre season success meant very little against an actual top team. I don’t think he can process the speed of the NFL. It seems to me he gets very jittery in the pocket.

Im guessing he is Mitch Trubisky 2 years from now. Highly picked QB that will be a journeyman back up. Which still means he’s one of the best QBs on the planet just how hard it is to be good at that level.

The difference is Rudolph has no upside and Pickett does.

Again, you made up your mind about the kid before he ever put up the uniform, which makes your opinion now impossible to take seriously.

I'm still where I was when he was taken. I see the potential, but I'm far from convinced either way.

I certainly don't buy your claim that he can't process the speed of the NFL. Then again, I always thought the bit about him being the most NFL-ready of the draft class was always misunderstood. He had the most experience, but this was a guy who took a while to adjust to the college level. I always thought it could take some time at the pro level, too.

The comparison to Rudolph is a funny one. By the equivalent point in Rudolph's pro career, he hadn't even started one game. Look at someone like Jordan Love, who hadn't looked all that impressive in limited duty and wasn't playing at all by the start of his second season. It's way too early to definitively say what Pickett is as a pro. I learned that from his college career. Anyone who thinks they know for sure right now is only fooling themselves.
