Sadly, that's exactly what they are going to do. Robinson and Austin will be the ones replacing Johnson. I imagine we will also see two tight ends more often, so that creates more opportunities for Washington and Heyward.

Great! The only WR on our team who seems to know how to create separation is out for awhile. Boy, this season is off to a great start! Can we go back to the pre-season now?

Amazing that we found common ground. I agree with everything you said. I want to give Canada a pass this past week because they fell behind and was mostly forced to pass the more than they intended. But really, the more effective this run game is; the more effective Pickett ultimately will be. The Steelers need an identity, and it starts with establishing the run. It's what they built this off-season, now the play calling needs to reflect this philosophy, or the off-season been a waste.

I think Purdy answered the question on who's better. No?

Purdy is better than I thought, but he also has a better offensive line, better weapons, and a much better offensive system propping him up.

Yeah he came in and led the team with 6 catches in limited play. They were all short passes but he is capable of breaking one of those for a long gain.

Purdy never beat Iowa. Really the only negative I got on him right now. I'll take it though! F**k the Cyclones!

He led with 6 catches but Robinson had the best day with 5 catches for 64 yards.

    Austin was 6 for 37.

Robinson could end up being a really good pickup playing him from the slot. I imagine they will lean on both Austin and Robinson to pick up the slack.

I thought they both played well in place of Johnson. With 11 catches between them it at least shows that they are getting open and making the catches.

They can get by for a few weeks without DJ, it was a disastrous opener but every team gets injuries. As others have said more 12 personnel, run the ball and get Robinson and Austin on the field.

Robinson goes back to the outside and Austin takes over the slot......
Pickens gets to prove he can be WR1

I for one am looking forward to seeing the dynamic

He is very good when the play breaks down as well. So it's not just the system

I was surprised by how quick he is. Minkah had a clear shot at him and not only whiffed on the tackle but Purdy outran him to the corner.

He also can catch the ball. You don't reduce his targets because he might get hurt. smh

LOL…only Matt Canada can take a legitimate deep threat with speed to burn and turn him into a possession receiver.

Absolute truth. This offense after first game same ole same ole! Oh wait 49ers the best defense in league from Last yr. Will we say Browns have the best defense after another inept performance come Monday night?
The clowns coaching this team are making the Steelers look like the inept Pirates!
Once again the old heads on here wont like talking bad about the incompetent coaches we have. It is just my personal opinion. BTW do you think Tomlin is greatest HC in Steeler history, coz hes never had a losing season? This Fu23ed up world of political correctness and everyone getting a participation trophy and settling for less sucks major ass!!!

My favorite Canada play is the FB 1 yard out with Conner Heyward. Turning back the clock on modern football a century.

I actually believe years ago a guy like Purdy would have been taken Higher. I'm not saying 1st, but way higher than 7th. The problem is they are too much looking at athletic Qbs instead of can a Qb play the position. It's why a Qb like Richardson got picked in the 1st round.

Even when the play breaks down, he still has Kittle, McCaffrey, Aiyuk, and Samuel. Also, the play isn't breaking down all that often. It is easier to do when it isn't happening as often as it does for the Steelers.

That has nothing to do with his ability to make something when the play does break down. At this point he is a much better QB than Kenny.
