That's what I get for trusting Dulac. He's the one who reported the surgery as if it was a done deal.

Exactly...You gotta mix and match now...Heyward is a borderline HOF'er ( not even borderline in my book )

Gonna have to rotate Guys, play to their strengths... You're not " duplicating " Cams production... Regardless of Tomlins " next man up BS "

Just...Do you job, fill your gap, remember your responsibilities, and remember that...Even though you do lose a great player like Cam...That if you do do your job...There are talented players around you

Good point. I guess we're going to see if the hype about the DL depth is true.

How much is on the staff and how much is on the player.

Think Joe Burrow is a 100% when he just went and scored 3 points and threw for 82 yards?

I but his knee deal isn't 100% yet.

Maybe he should of sat out and not played.

But when your paying these dudes tons of coin, you want to see your payroll out on the field and I think they want to play and not heal. Its the player mentality.

Think the Jets are gonna fire their guys because Aaron Rogers last 3 plays and is done.

    I think not.

Its football it happens every year, you just got to hope you catch breaks and get lucky.

Even if he doesn't need surgery he will be out several weeks and be nursing it all season or what if he gets reinjured.

Time to call up Fehoko. Benton will be thrust into more action and hopefully Ogunjobi doesn't have a setback.

Neither of those comparisons hold up. Rodgers didn't get hurt, then try to play through it, so his situation is completely irrelevant to this. Burrow has been evaluated for weeks. They had time to decide if he was risking further injury by playing. Based on what we saw Sunday, they probably shouldn't have played him, but there is no evidence of medical personnel failing at their jobs.

They absolutely failed Heyward. He was clearly risking further injury by returning. Either it was already severe enough to need surgery or it was a risk of further injury, which is what happened. Either way, they failed miserably at their jobs and it is going to cost the Steelers and Heyward dearly.

Agreed on all points. I assume he will be going on IR this week either way.

Cam Heyward is 34 years old and played football for more than likely for Quarter of a Century, and your gonna blame the conditioning and health staff.
Outside of being Durable most of his career hurt his pec back in 2016 and missed 2nd half of year.

    This stuff happens.

Better blame the staff on Johnson's hamstring, blame them too when Pat took a shot in the endzone and hurt his chest.

It's football and the older you get and the longer your play it the harder it is to avoid injuries.

Short of having a miracle worker on your training staff, there isn't anything getting them out there quicker.

But these guys are investments they don't like seeing their investment on a sideline but injuries will always happen to the investments, you just hope to avoid it.

Week one was not good to the investments.

Tomlin said he is having the surgery. He gave no time line yet.

Learn to read more clearly. I'm not blaming the conditioning and health staff for the initial injury. I am absolutely blaming them for clearing him to return to the game. He was either already severely injured enough to require surgery or he had enough damage to be vulnerable to causing a more serious injury. In either case, the proper thing to do would be to protect the player by telling him and his coach that his day is over. Now, if they did that and Tomlin over-ruled them, then he made an incredibly stupid decision that should be part of Rooney's evaluation of him going forward.

I wonder if any of the assembled media had the balls to ask him why Heyward was allowed back in the game. They should be asking how he was cleared and who decided he could go back in. Somebody screwed that up big time.

Has JJ Watt gotten any phone calls from the 412?

Wouldn't that be great! Unfortunately those from the invited media only throw softballs. Because they have no balls. Scared to be banished :lolol:

I believe some of us from this board could rachet up the intensity in the press conference. There would be some Chin Music! Man I would love asking Tomlin some questions.

What was his “abdominal” issue earlier in the week?

Some are mesh worthy because they are severe. I believe that is what Heyward is going to get under the knife. Just hope he can come back for the stretch.

Maybe just maybe it was a mild groin issue. And now...

I would be stunned at his age if he can come back this season. He would be so out of shape by then too that it would take several games to get back into shape. I hope he can but's let's see if the young guys can spell Cam and step up.

I hate the guy but do we try to go get N. Suh who is out there or do they try to lure JJ Watt, hmm?

Watt is done. He's got health issues that make playing much more risky than the average player.

Man he is in full retirement mode, lost weight, doing a pre game show. He isn't coming back. Plus like Formerscribe said he is done.

I bet JJ still wants 10+ million, I can't see him being an option. I'll take Suh, they need some nasty and slightly crazy.

Even if you haven’t followed his story, did you not read the thread? Watt dropped a great deal of weight and he has a heart issue that made it very dangerous to keep playing. He is also loaded. The guy has done very well in business as well as football.
