I was at the game, and you’re correct, there were a lot of visiting fans. More visiting fans than I’ve ever experienced. However, no, it did not feel like a Niners home game. The Steelers fans were still louder and defiantly the home team.

Bandwagon season ticket holders selling game tickets for profit. Times have changed and it is all about coin now.

I got a feeling his luck is about to run out this season and the winning streak finally ends.

It could also be about sustained disappointment.

Nice to have you back. See that foolish optimism has been wiped off your mug. Go watch some more Nascar.

I think this is an unfair stereotype.

We don’t know people’s personal situations. I know someone who sold his 4 tickets for over 1k in the upper deck. There is no way to tell to which fan base. He’s not a wealthy person and that money will help his family.

Is your expectation that “true” fans are only those who buy season tickets and never sell any? This is especially hard to swallow when the team has been playing as badly as they are.

Frankly, be mad at the Steelers for fielding a subpar team. This didn’t happen during our Super Bowl runs. If the team keeps playing badly, expect more of this.

I sell at least half my season tickets every year. I only go to 1 PM games.

There is a little difference when its a playoff game and trailing by a score.

Then week its Week One and your down 27-7 with 5 minutes to go and you just turned the ball over....

Let me help out with the die hard loyalty... head to the parking lot!!!

Unless you want to see 15-20K Cheering 49ers fans...

Fans choose Capitalism on their tickets over fandom.

49ers are a popular fan base. I knew there would be many of them there.

Just like if we ever play like the Cowboys, Green Bay etc. be prepared to see a lot of extremely popular fan bases show up. It happens.

Everyone is always like the Steelers fans travel so well, yeah well some do.. but that whole argument is BS.

There is just a lot of Steelers fans we are a popular franchise, see those other teams as well its the same deal....

Tip of the Cap to you Sir!

If I was a retired guy with no where to be I would do the same.

But a working guy like myself with kid in tow, if we are getting crap kicked out of us, don't mind me heading to the parking lot to get stuff ready for Monday at home and try to salvage what is left of my weekend.

I also have a bit of ride home, I don't live with an hour of the stadium.

I look it this way, people paid the money its their choice at what they choose to do.

Just very sad to have a nice size crowd and the game to be a DUD for the Steelers.

My dad did it for 54 years as well and many of those early years with 2 kids in tow

I also have a fair long drive

I’m not criticizing you it’s your ticket and your money

I’m just talking about little old me

The culture and climate in today's sport world really is changing. I worked with a guy who was so thrilled the day he became a season ticket holder. I don't think he's been to a game in years.

I get that PNC is like 50% the other teams fans. If not that would be one empty ballpark but I'm a tad bit sad seeing what I saw Sunday. I really hope Steeler fans are not selling out to the Browns. Hell of a lot closer then SF.

Not looking to start anything, obviously there is a lot I don't know, but it seems to me that if the person can buy four season tickets, a thousand dollars is chump change. It probably wouldn't be legal, but it would be great if the team could identify "fans" who continuously sell their seats, and take them away. As far as expectations for season ticket holders, if it's me, if I couldn't guarantee that a Steeler fan would be in that seat, I wouldn't sell it. But, I am a realist, for some nothing trumps the almighty dollar.

The Steelers fanbase is no different than any other fan base, now you know how other team's fans feel when the Steelers take over their stadium.

I see your perspective and it’s fair to arrive at your conclusion, knowing how expensive tickets are. To clarify, I don’t think he sold them because they are hard up, but could use the money on any number of other things. If someone would give me well north of $1k to stay home for one game and watch it on tv, I would certainly consider it.

Using that logic, I would be curious if everyone in the upper deck thinks $1k is chump change.

Kudos to the die hard fans who pay the annual cost, goes to every game, never sells their tickets, and never leaves a game early. I just haven’t run across many of these die hard fans in my life.
