On a scale of 1-10 how concerned are you about Pickett's play going forward?

I didn't expect him to throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs against the 49ers, but I also didn't expect him to look as bad as did, we heard about all the work he put in the offseason that's why his play was so disappointing. I would say my concern level right now is around 6.

I'm going 4. Waiting to see what happens with Browns game. If that outcome is like the 49rs. Then it will be a 9.

4 but it's not a gradually rising scale. If we see more play like that in the coming weeks. That number will likely jump to 8 or higher.

I need more specifics. Are we talking about concern regarding this season or his entire career?

For this season, I'd put it at a five, higher if Johnson is out for a long time. For his career, I'd put it at a four. I'm not going to change my entire outlook on a player due to one bad game, but I'm definitely more concerned than I was before that loss.

    4 for me personally.

Again, what happened Sunday was horrible on Kenny's end. Quite a bit of those throws, and reads, were inexcusable given how much he showcased during the preseason. That said, could be nothing more than a slip up. I do concur with @santeesteel@santeesteel though that such notions will change should this continue Monday Night.

    8.

I’ve watched him play for the last 6 years I really don’t think he is a franchise guy at this level. Think he really overachieved that last year at Pitt when he perfected Whipples system.

Oh and had Jordan Addison running college free every other play.

And played in a crappy ACC.

Seemed like he rattled early and never recovered. I was expecting him to get it together at some point like after the TD, so that was surprising. Some have voiced concerns about his confidence in the pocket so that is a growing concern moving forward, especially if the line does not solidify. Could happy feet and poor mechanics become an ongoing issue. Doubly so with no confidence the OC can help the guy out.

If the pocket is collapsing he should just scramble out of there tuck it and run , he gets like frozen in there

Serious question, they might coach him not to do that for injury reasons or just because they want him to drop back and pass strictly idk

Honestly, if Tomlin had done the right thing and hired a real NFL OC in the off-season I’d say probably a 4. But since he’s working with a fraud of an OC in Matt Canada, I’d have to say a 6.5 at this point. I still think Pickett has the adequate talent and the strong intangibles to be an effective NFL quarterback, however, with Mr. Saturday calling the plays I’m slowly losing confidence in Pickett’s ability to take the next step. I just don’t think Canada can get him there. I wish we had somebody like Kyle Shanahan in charge of Pickett’s development. I don’t think the coaching staff there now, Tomlin and Canada in particular, are capable of developing a good, young quarterback and Kenny’s career is likely to suffer for it. I hate to be doom and gloom, but the evidence is pretty overwhelming that Matt Canada is in way over his head. Why the Steelers have stuck with him is hard to understand.

The number goes up the longer Matt Canada is his OC. Kenny had a bad game. Canada has had a bad career. Steelers do hang on to ****ty coordinators.

You wish we had Kyle Shanahan as OC? Me too he’s arguably the best play caller and play designer in the game.

Unfortunately he’s the HC of SF.

    3,

I think he’ll bounce back, but they need someone better than Canada to help him along

Thank you, Captain Obvious, lol. I said somebody like Kyle Shanahan. You know, somebody that understands offense. Somebody that knows how to gameplan and develop schemes to get receivers open consistently. Shoot, I think Byron Leftwich would have been a good choice as OC. He’s not Shanahan but he’s a heckuva lot closer than the yahoo we’ve got now.

The niners had a great game plan, they succeeded in making KP uncomfortable.

    Canada had no answer
