Hehe - I didn't expect him to shred. I expected him to not look shaky and undecisive and miss 3-10 yard passes as the norm.

Look at the play calling, man. Purdy had guys over and over that had nobody within five yards of them that he could play pitch and catch with. We NEVER have anybody wide open. The scheme/routes are trash.

KFP never through any of his former Pitt
Players under the bus and I expect that to
    Continue with the Steelers.

Shocking how other teams can scheme guys open. Wonder how such a thing happens. Maybe we can jet sweep a few more times

Maybe I am wrong, but it looked like SF was playing somewhat of a prevent D before the end of each half and our WRs had good separation. KP got some decent yardage as well. JMO>

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Pickett doesn't need to hear from his coaches, teammates, media or esteemed members of this board that he sucked. He knows it. What he chooses to do about it is the important part.

It's all doom and gloom now, but getting wiped out in week 1 is nothing new for the Steelers.

1996 and 2001... Jags owned the Steelers.
2000 and 2011.... Ravens owned the Steelers.
2002 and 2019.... Patriots owned the Steelers.
    1997... Cowboys owned the Steelers.

Some of those losses were much worse than yesterday's loss to 49ers.

I wonder what our practice prep was last week after having so many days off where timing gets rusty. No matter what KFP says his timing was off yesterday. It looked like a kid throwing backyard football that hasn't learned to lead a receiver as he was consistently behind he receiver over and over. Whatever our allowed number of full pad practices is a year, I would have used one last week to get everyone back into game speed. Only 5 AFC teams won yesterday and the G-men looked like hot garbage last night as well, but we have a history of starting slow in the first 1/4 of the season. We never look like a well oiled machine early in the season and we need to rectify that. That piece is on the coaches, but KFP has to get his timing back to full game speed asap.

Pickett was bad. There is no doubt about that. The lack of a running game and poor pass protection were part of it. Nobody getting open on the first two drives didn't help, either. That said, he needs to be a lot better. He didn't see some open receivers and made poor throws on five or six other plays. The first interception was a poor throw to a well-covered receiver. The second one was forced to Heyward, who was well-covered by the linebacker with a safety coming up from deep to help. (It wasn't triple coverage. It really wasn't true double coverage. It was one-on-one with a linebacker, but with safety help over the top.) At least twice on third downs in the first half, he had time and still missed open receivers. One of those he had Johnson fairly deep over the middle with room to run. That would have been the sort of big play they desperately needed. Actually, Johnson played very well until he was injured. He made one big play and would have had two more with better throws.

I heard what Pickett said and had no problem with it. The OP is one of the people who were just waiting for an excuse to rip Pickett. He would have been better served going after the quarterback's play on the field. Pickett certainly gave his critics plenty of ammunition. The post-game comments, however, were fine. I would have liked to hear him say he needs to be more accurate with his throws. Maybe he did. I didn't hear everything he said.

I think all things considered Calvin Austin looked fine or better…

    Same for Friermuth.

Watt, Muth, Austin, and McFarland were all winners yesterday and have nothing to be ashamed of at all.

The 9ers even started kicking away from McFarland’s returns.

"Losses?" he didn't have ANY until week 2 of the PLAYOFFS. NONE. ZERO. NADA. Ben was 15-0 as a rookie. He had no chance to say "I" or "we" after a loss his rookie season until he lost to the Pats in the playoffs. He then follow that up by winning the Super Bowl. I am pretty sure Kenny isn't going to perform the same as that.

So now you are moving away from Kenny after I pointed out that Canada sucks. You are all over the place.

They both sucked yesterday with Canada always sucking. Feel free to see more things I've mentioned. I said play 2 we're in for a long season with his quickest to the sideline wins approach. It doesn't excuse KP from passing poorly.

Your comments don't make any sense. You said they all sucked because he couldn't throw an accurate 7-10 yard pass. A lineman not being able to block has nothing to do with his passing. Anyway, I'm getting dumber conversing with you so I'm done.

Kenny made some bad throws, but that pocket was getting pushed around all game... if he actually had a chance to be clean and deliver those throws it could have been different.

The line suxed too. And if that was what the deal was gonna be all day, why not change the play calling up and help him out?

Clearly you are able to see into the future. Why waste your talents on the starting quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers? What about hot stock tips? Who will be our next President? Will Taylor Swift become irrelevant in my life time?
