Burrow was 14-31 for 82 yards today and was benched. Zac Taylor had him take a seat and played Jake Browning for the last 2 series.

I don't think that was a benching in that sense. Remember, he has barely practiced and didn't play in any preseason games. Once the game was out of reach, it made sense to get him out of there rather than risk another injury.

Burrow has shown he is elite.

Watson has shown he’s been very good.

Lamar has shown he’s an incredible running back who can make some throws.

Kenny can’t throw 2 tds in a game lol. :(

11? Yeah he’s fading fast as the franchise for me…

He looks like a really good backup.

Maybe that would have been what should have happened before the game? JMO>

I like KP and think he is a good kid but what has he really done to make anyone think he is a franchise QB? Reading posts on this board over the past few weeks has me wondering if his numbers from last year were a mirage or if practice games now mean something more than just practice? He's young, smart, and has a good attitude but from what I've read about expectations on him this year could be exceeding ability to meet. After one game we were beaten in all facets of the game, but it's not the season. This is where coaching and development of units on both sides of the ball and individuals will inevitably determine how this season progresses. JMO>

Burrow will be fine, he's the real deal. I've never been sold on Jackson. Fine, exciting athlete. Sorry, but I have yet to see where he can consistently engineer late game winning drives when his running ability is defended competently. They'll be competitive with him, but I seriously doubt they'll win a championship in today's game with him. He's not a well-rounded QB, he's an athlete. The hype surrounding Watson is unfounded as far as I'm concerned. He's an average NFL QB. And as far as Pickett, I honestly don't know what they have with him yet. He has the physical skills. Good athlete, better than average arm. Student of the game, will to win, etc. But what concerns me is that if he is rattled early in a game, he has a hard time getting untracked. Maybe he just had a bad game. Why not? Most of the rest of his teammates did. There are throws he made in college that he will not get away with in the NFL and I think he's having some trouble adjusting to that. The only thing we can do is hope he figures it out before this team is really ready to contend, otherwise they are going to be in the market for another starting QB.

Yep starting to think he's not the answer. I'm hoping he can prove he's worth it but at the moment not sure he's the one. I know he will have some games that will make me believe but my spidey senses are telling me to be cautious here.

I don’t think Bengal fans will be worried about Burrow, he is one of the best in the game and he was coming back off injury. Jackson and Watsons seasons could go either way from here we know they can both be very good.

Kennys performance yesterday was a worry, as was the way the SF defence knew what was coming on every play. The offence is too predictable.

Contrast that to the Rams or even the Patriots yesterday. The Steelers are more talented on Offence than those teams IMO yet they were able to move the ball well against good teams while the Steelers went three and out over and over. It really is an indictment of the organisation that Matt Canada is still in place after what we have seen the past two years.

Honestly, it was his poor reaction to the slow start that has me more concerned than anything. He didn't really get rattled when things went wrong at Pitt or as a rookie with the Steelers, but he definitely looked like he was rattled and pressing after the first couple of drives yesterday. I don't think he was the problem on the first couple of drives. The line was getting its collective ass kicked and nobody was getting open when he did have time. Then he started pressing, which led to an overly aggressive decision on the first interception. Sure, Johnson fell, but he was well covered. The interception seemed to rattle him. That is when he started misfiring. He missed open receivers on possession downs far too often. He had Freiermuth on one third down. He had Johnson on one down the field that should have been a big play. There was also the potential touchdown to Johnson late in the half, but they got the touchdown on that drive, anyway. Those are throws he can and must complete. The lack of accuracy and poor composure were out of character for him. If that continues, this team is going to be looking for another quarterback.

Pickett is never going to brake out unless our running game can have some success. Every time I see Harris get squashed at the line of scrimmage, I just cringe, same old ****. I don't know if Kenny is the guy but I do know if we don't fix that running game he won't be.

Some of his throws were off, forced, under thrown..none of that in one game shows me much. That the entire team sucked in all phases shows a lot more. Understand coaches do not play, but the entire facet of everything showed we were not prepared from top to bottom.

Browns fan here. Forgive me as I clearly have too much time on my hands today. I agree with a lot you. Burrow wasn’t himself yesterday, and his knee AND calf were clearly bothering him. While watching, I started getting more concerned about Watson - multiple passes thrown into the turf, a couple under thrown deep balls. The Browns have a good oline so we were able to keep pounding Chub and Ford. Bengals D was exhausted. However, I don’t expect this result the next time that we play them. Burrow will be on fire and it will be a much tighter game.
I agree with another poster about Baltimore. Lamar will keep them competitive, but isn’t going to win them a SB.
For Pittsburgh, I mean, they’re a young team and they were playing one of the top 5 teams in the NFL. I give them a pass for week one. - The Browns blew out Baltimore in week 1 back in 2004. - Thought we had something until some guy took over for Tommy Maddox that year and couldn’t lose.
Monday will be interesting. I see a 3 point game either way. I wonder what the spread will be prior to kickoff.
    Just my .02.

This season is critical for both Pickett and Canada. If the offense performs this season like it did last season, Canada will be gone and Pickett will have to compete for the starting job next year - likely with Trubisky and another lower-round rookie.

I’m at the point where I think Pickett just isn’t that good. I’m not ready to throw in the towel completely, but yesterday’s performance was downright pathetic. Both his accuracy and decision-making sucked and frankly those are the only two traits he really has going for him.

It was pouring rain in Cleveland, fwiw. Burrow is elite, Jackson is a former MVP, Watson was elite in the past and still young.. We have yet to see anything resembling "elite" from Kenny. Even when we rattled off those wins late last year, it wasn't exactly like Kenny carried us in any of those games. I think people have mistook his confidence for good play. I still have hope, but it's fading.

As I stated months ago. play calling is an art,
I am not so sure our play caller is right for team. Of course
It doesn't help when ol/ team seems flat?

Kenny Pickett looked horrible yesterday. Ben was horrible his last two years (I know that will upset a few people). Is the common denominator Matt Canada? He may need to go sooner than later. If yesterday's performance continues, it is not Steeler protocol to fire him mid-season. It would probably be week 17 at the earliest.
