Bus thinks Kenny is on his way to being a star

Well, one could argue Bus was up close and personal the last time a rookie QB developed into a future star in the NFL: 2004-2005, Big Ben.

Bettis says he sees the same signs in Kenny. Here's hoping Jerome knows what he's talking about.

 

The game on Sunday will tell a lot about how improved Kenny and the team is. The 49ers had the best defense in the league last year and is a top 5 team in the NFL. A solid performance against San Francisco will be a big step for Kenny.

 

If not, the critics are gonna be rampaging on a lot of things. All of a sudden Kenny's perfect preseason rating is going to be meaningless. Maybe Canada's not the "new got OC" after all. But if they succeed, look out.

 

If Kenny just looks average or even below average, you are right the critics will jump in with both feet and say the pre-season was just a mirage. The 49ers though have a great defense and can make even the best QB'S look bad. Now if poor play continues against the Browns, Raiders etc. then it will be time to worry. But a great performance will put the rest of the NFL on notice to look out for the Steelers.

 

I believe the game is going to hinge on our OL play. If they get manhandled it's a long day and we see Kenny on his wheels bailing out right away. The first series will be big on establishing confidence. No pre-snap bull**** putting us in the hole right away. If the line can do their job I think we can hang, if not could get ugly.

Kenny will be a stud, think Aikman.

 

If he has a step back this week I won't hold it against him the same way if he throws for 500 I won't get too high on him. 1 game is 1 game. If he's below par the entire year then I'll concede in saying he's not the guy the same way I hope the naysayers jump on his bandwagon if he exceeds expectations for the season.

Hell, if Kenny is anything like Joe Burrow then that is highway robbery by Kevin Colbert. Having the arm strength, speed and/or insane arm talent only does so much. Processing, accuracy and Football IQ are just as important if not more than. Now clearly, having both leads to players like Mahomes.


That said, Kenny does have all the intangibles with some rock solid tanglibes to go with it. I hope the Bus is also correct but we will have to see.

Beyond the hype, what certain analysts have said is his eyes see the field. he is going through progressions and seeing when the D moves off or makes a mistake and then choosing correctly. Now that was preseason and vanilla D's, so I agree ups and downs can and will happen. Every QB has bad days, sometimes teams just do not gel on some days..it happens.

 

Can the D get a couple of TO's. then can the O capitalize?? This is where your post on Boz takes on more meaning, yes we need TD's, but we cannot leave points on the field. Another aspect, will CA3 break something and create field advantage, and then again can we capitalize? We need all phases of the game to work.
