I am currently a fan of Mason Cole. He and KP seem to have chemistry already. I was only meaning how I felt during that particular draft.

As for Moore, I didn't think he played poorly. I felt Dotson was playing poorly beside him which left Moore on an island more or less. 40ish snaps a game and an NFL pass rusher is going to win those 1on1's a few times. I thought Moore did an incredible job recognizing and adjusting to blitzes from his side more times than not. I also noticed Moore's first step was typically backwards to allow the defender to make his move, and Moore played more of a reactive style. Hopefully he can be the aggressive LT we became used to with AV now that Seumalo is playing beside him. Obviously time will tell, but I'm not currently worried about Dan Moore Jr.

People who worry about depth at safety also seem to be forgetting that it is Riley's primary position, though he has been getting most of his work at slot corner in preseason.

It can be true that Freiermuth is a hell of a player and that it was a mistake to take him over Humphrey. I think that is the case. That decision really hurt the Steelers that year, with Humphrey earning All-Pro honors while Green was absolutely horrible. More importantly, it would have given them a dominant player to build around on the offensive line. I'll take the dominant center over the very good tight end any time. Cole is decent, but not on that level.

Cole is fine. Though I do think they made a mistake passing on Humphrey, Cole helped stabilize the position.

I disagree regarding Moore. He has been below average at best. I do think playing next to Dotson made things more difficult for him. I also think he has put in the work to get better and Seumalo will help. Given both of those factors, I expect him to be a lot better in 2023. I will still be a lot happier with the line when Jones is ready to take over at left tackle and Moore is starting on the right side, which seems to be a better fit for his skills.

MacFarland is fine as the third string RB, he has more big play ability than Harris and Warren, you can't expect to have Pro Bowl players at every backup positions.

I have no argument, what I disagree with is those who compare the Green pick to Creed. In that case there was no comparison, in the case of 2nd round you can assess that Creed was the most viable pick based on the need, future production in the position, and in a sort of legacy of how lucky we have been as a franchise in that position. There are some in between fills I will miss, but basically we went for HOF Webster, to HOF Dawson, to damn good FA pick up Hartings, to possible HOF Pouncey. We have had legacy guys there for most of my adulthood, taking Creed would have likely filled it till I go to the grave, lmao.

But seeing Muth develop after not having Heath for a couple of years helps lesson the blow, just my way of dealing with it, lol

He's "fine" but has never shown any production whatsoever? After 2 years? Don't get it.

Has he "earned" the chances? There is a reason coaches have chose not to give him many touches of the ball in games, right? Or do they just hope he doesn't do anything just because?

Exactly. People keep making that excuse for McFarland, that he hasn't gotten many opportunities. He didn't earn them. He has been with the organization for three years and he didn't even make the opening-day roster last season. He had a golden opportunity to earn the No. 2 spot. He failed. He was beaten out by an undrafted rookie and Bennie Snell, a plodder with no upside. They don't seem to want to give up on a guy with his speed, but he brings some severe limitations with him. He's a terrible blocker. He is terrible in short yardage. Other than returning kickoffs poorly, he doesn't play special teams. I don't hate keeping him as a third stringer, but some people need to get over the 40 time and see what the has actually done.

Skill player over an interior player. I'm glad Muth is a Steeler but having Creed would have been one of those franchise centers we have had.

What really baffled me is that they had Hassenauer who I would have taken over Green as the starter. What they saw in Green I will never know.

What they saw in Green was his athleticism. As a guard Green may have worked out here. Eventually. None of the backups got in-game reps last season. Playing out of position, then sitting for a year, isn't exactly how you develop an OG. BUT, we are better now so that's all forgotten.

    No. I agree.
Throw Jones out there right now, and see what You get.. , but they won't, and that's what was ask of Moore . Moore has progressed every game.

I would agree to an extent.

My expectations may have been too high with Jones. That said, seeing how Dan Moore Jr has played didn't help. In Moore's defense, neither did the Musical Chairs of Offensive Line Coaches. Stability is a pre requisite for every position but doubly so on Offensive Lineman as they get little to no actual coaching in College.... sans a few Colleges that still do believe in that like Notre Dame, Arkansas and Iowa.

With any luck, the Steelers can keep Pat Meyer long term... I truly hope. A major stepping stone for someone who is as much of a super freak as he is a tremendous talent in Broderick Jones still needs a good teacher for he is still very much new to the position. Remember he only played 19 total games at the LT Position; a position that is notoriously difficult to transition to.

I still believe he is an All Pro talent... but he will need time. As Max Starks stated, dude needs to be placed in the oven... not the microwave.

It also helps that Moore finally has stability with an Offensive Line Coach for the first time in his career. With any luck, Meyer stays!! I seriously hope he does as Meyer is going to play a far bigger part in Broderick's development than others realize.

I would take a Center regardless if Cole performs far and beyond as I see it.

According to Over the Cap, Mason Cole's Contract runs through 2025; at which point he is a Free Agent. By that time, the Steelers should hopefully have a replacement in waiting. For that matter... why wait?! Sedrick Van Pran from Georgia may only be 22 but assuming he finishes the season.. he will have over 40+ starts accumulated at the Center Position; an exponential increase over the mere four that the team got with Kendrick Green. Great size too; 6'4 and weighing 310lbs. Very athletic and dependable as well.

As I have been saying.. I will not mind what-so-ever should he be in play for the first pick for the team!

Build the God Damn Pickett Fence!!! :steelflag::steelflag:

I could see a center in the 1st, but We shall have to see how the season unfolds. As of this moment I'd liked a center in the 1st.
