I guess Gunner is not going anywhere this year. Is this Gunner taking a $600 thousand paycut to save his job?

According to a report by Field Yates of ESPN, the Steelers have restructured Olszewski’s contract and his cap hit will now be $2.o26 million, saving the team $591,500 under this season’s cap obligations.

I am surprised, I thought with Austin taking over the return duties Gunner's days were numbered, but if they just saved 600K why not.

Honestly, he looked pretty solid in preseason. Hoping he can be a Wes Weller, Cole Beasley type.

I think we have to many weapons. I don't think he'll have more than 300 yards.

He's been in the league long enough to know that he can never be that guy. He's steady and the QBs like throwing to him, so in a pinch they have confidence in him. Which is probably why he was kept.

He’s here for depth. Cross your fingers that Calvin Austin stays healthy and on the field. But GO’s ability to play special teams is why he is part of the wr room.

However, he may not get a helmet often.

Depth and special teams. If he's any kind of focal point, Steelers in trouble.

He has always looked good in the preseason, pretty much his entire career, it's when the regular season comes, he does next to nothing, glad he at least took a pay cut.

I believe he understands that he is part of something that will be VERY SPECIAL in Pittsburgh over the next 8 years.
He might not be here for all 8 but he knows 4 rings in the next 4 years will be a lifetime of achievement with him being an intrical part at the start.
Lifetimes of stories. Especially when he is possibly the one to seal the deal in a Super Bowl with a defining catch, return, or should i dare say JET SWEEP
    for a 1st down!!!

Yeah I don't think these guys think in terms like that at all. I'm glad they kept gunner. I kind of like his play

If i added that Mitch Trubisky would be the one who threw him the pass after KFP had the best super bowl of all QBs ever (MVP as i stated in another thread) but the NFL pulled him on the last drive concussion protocol after a late hit on 1st down.
    what does that do? LOL

GOSH, I hope they at least consider this in some aspect.
We all know athletes claim they want to be part or play for a contender.

I do not get the article. It states the team will be under the cap with all signed and PS accounted for, but still might need money for inseason signings (emergencies), I get that as they usually carry that, Sportrac has the team (after Gunner's restructure) as 12.4 under. They could restructure TJ for up to 12 million, but it says they probably need a third of that. Why? Hell this is the best I have seen their cap in a long time.

He doesn’t have 300 receiving combined in his 4 year career

And with Austin his return yards will go pittuie

He is a special team player
