This is what they did with T. Bradshaw, and Ben Roethlisberger, and the sad part is some so called fans of the team bought into it. Somehow it is never a Steelers Qbs abilities that make them great , but only what's around Him.
How is it that only seems to be Steelers Qbs???
Hope this video shows up.....because it will be the 1st of many....Just get use to it KFP

F them. We know our guys were great and they have 6 rings to show for it.
That is more rings than Staubach, Namath, Fouts, Tarkenton, Pastorini, etc.
That is more rings than Brees, Rivers, Rodgers, (the so-called greatest talent of all-time, and the same number as Peyton.
So let the media create the false narrative. Part of it, IMO, is also that the media likes to praise the Steelers “organization” which necessarily means that the players benefit from playing for the Steelers, as opposed to the players making then Steelers great. For example, look at the Saints, Colts, Chargers. Take away their “savior” QB’s and those organizations stink.

I still agree with you that it’s a false narrative but I do think some of it is in respect to the Steeler organization. But great is great. The players made the Steelers great. We all loved the Chief but he lost for 40 years until her hired Noll, and then they had the great drafts. The Steelers weren’t some model organization until the great players were brought in.

One more thing about the actual video. Pickens was never “the man” at UGA as Sam Acho argues. Pickens tore his ACL before he could become “the man”. People from UGA barely remember him.

Talking heads drive me crazy. Why I tend to watch NFL with sound off. Steelers kicking ass to Zepplin is really cool.

Did we need a thread for one throwaway line? That is the only mention of Pickett in the video, some talking head I don't recognize claimed that Pickens will be the reason for his success. I think it was just a little hyperbole to prop up his bit about Pickens. It certainly deserves an eye roll, but I'm not sure why it got you that worked up.

If it makes you feel any better they were talking Pickett up on GMF today. Peter Schrager has him as the breakout player of the year.

Did We need Your comment for this??? Again it's always funny to Me people that say they don't care about something, BUT care enough to comment......LoL.....I know it's Me, but when I don't care about some things....I just skip them, and move on.
If You don't remember how it started with Bradshaw, and Ben, and don't see it now.....I don't know what to tell You.
Bradshaw the only 4 time SB champion Qb....never mentioned in the Top 10 of Qbs outside of Pittsburgh fans, Ben Roethlisberger 2 time Qb with playoff stats, and SB stats equal to P. Manning yet never brought up in the same sentence. Hell He was the 1st Qb in this later time they wanted to give a MVP to His help instead of Him(oh wait I forgot You bought into that...now I see why this means nothing to You).... When Steelers offense was hitting its stride.....media said it was Bell, or AB.....just wait it will be the same for KFP if He is successful . Remember I brought this up.

Cowherd was replaying his greatest hits over the past few weeks. The first "hit" was his comparison of the Steelers and Chiefs franchises. And how the Chiefs spend money the right way... on offense and keep their defense young, inexpensive and fresh. Of course the Steelers are the polar opposite and spend the wrong way emphasizing defense. Of course the Steelers haven't won a playoff game in 7 years, while the Chiefs have been in the Super Bowl 3 times and won twice.

Also says the ceiling for Pickett this year is one playoff win. Says there's no way Steelers can navigate the AFC gauntlet to the Super Bowl.

I hope Tomlin uses this as bulletin board material. I bet Steelers were spending more on offense than defense on the cap... when Roethlisberger was on the roster. Spending more on defense is all circumstantial at this point, not by design. The offense is young and emerging. The tables will soon turn when Pickett, Jones and Pickens 2nd contracts are due.

The biggest difference between the chiefs and the steelers(and other AFC team) is Patrick Mahomes....The chiefs are the same team who trade Tyreek Hill last year because of the salary cap and they are likely to give a huge contract to their star DT Jones very soon

I hear so much about several different QB's, Herbert, Lamar, Allen, Burrow, Watson, etc. Burrow has done something so I respect that, the rest are very good, but in the League today Mahomes stands head and shoulders above all, because he has done it with an ever revolving cast around him. You might hate him, argue him down, but if the team is not a dynasty it is on the verge..and that is Reid and Mahomes.

I embarrassingly listen to Cowherd daily. Just works out with my lunch hour. This is one of his takes that is maddening and he has been on it for 2 years. Of course we are spending more on defense currently. Our offense is super young and in a period of rookie contracts.

Stirring the pot of a fanbase for attention is understandable given his profession, but the contradictory nature of his show is aggravating. At least be consistent. I do like the addition of JMac. He at least disagrees with him and argues his points. Joy, not so much.

Same here. It's convenient for me to listen to Cowherd's show since it's during my lunch break... and it's not depressing like politics.

One week, he's bragging on the Steelers. The next week, he's ripping them to shreds. It's funny because his guests' opinions on the Steelers/Pickett are very positive and he'll agree with them... and then of course, he'll do his usual 180° since Tomlin is not an offensive genius like Reid and Shanahan.

It is ridiculous to use the Chiefs as an example of anything other than “we drafted the best QB of this generation and he covers a lot of mistakes that we, as an offense, and organization, make”. Just like Brady did for the Pats. That does not make either franchise the model because if it was the model, the only way to follow that model is draft the best QB of the generation.
Cowherd is providing a lazy and ignorant opinion.

You are overreacting to one throwaway line by some talking head I can't even identify.

Pickett hasn't even been good in the regular season yet. Sure, he did a few impressive things late last season, but aside from reducing his turnovers later in the season, the numbers were nothing special. Why not wait and see how the media responds if he does start putting up big numbers during the season? I've seen him get plenty of positive responses during this preseason and it wasn't all giving credit to Pickens.

There were definitely times when Roethlisberger didn't get enough credit during his career. Some idiot analysts were still referring to him as a game manager long after his actual play moved beyond that level. I also agree that he should have gotten the MVP over Holmes. That said, he isn't brought up with Peyton Manning because he wasn't as good. There is more to a resume than just the Super Bowl appearances and when you look at the numbers, Manning was a much better quarterback.

Bradshaw was a different story. For one thing, that was over 40 years ago. The game and the media have changed dramatically. Also, he was bad for a long time, so it took time during his career to change perceptions. It is also difficult to measure his numbers against the quarterbacks who followed because he played most of his career before the rule changes in 1978.

Also, yes, you are going to get a response from me if you start a thread about the media. Consider that a given. I care about the attacks on the media on this board. I do not care about a throwaway line from some talking head I've never seen before. (Was that a former player and I just don't recognize him?)

I would expect this particular analyst to point out the Burrow was 2-7-1 before Chase, and then 10-6 when they drafted Chase.
So obviously it is all the WR, and can't be the QB improving from his rookie year.

Why would you ever give a moment's thought to anything Cowherd said? He was always a clueless blowhard, but the incredibly stupid mistakes he made recently should make it very clear there is no value in anything he has to say.

Cowherd and the 4 on GMF are the only talking heads during the daytime hours that give the Steelers any time or attention. Bayless, Carton, First Thing and Speak hardly ever talk about the Steelers. Bayless is all Cowboys and Lakers, Carton is all Giants and Jets, First Thing is all Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Herbert, Speak... same as First Thing.
