I heard from some in the media that his blocking fell off last season, and I don't think he was a core special teams guy, and Washington might be a more effective blocker as a rookie.

 

Yea I am use to the abuse, my dad often told me he taught me all I know and I still know nothing. So the tradition continues, I listen to you guys and I still know nothing. The standard is the standard so I get it, lol

 

That would be great if Washington and Gentry were competing but they weren't. It was always a foregone conclusion that Gentry was TE3 and Heyward is TE3A/FB1/HB3A. The only question was do they keep 3 TE's and have Conner as a jack of all trades or keep two primary with Conner the 3rd and multipurpose guy and have Gentry on the PS in case of an injury or one them gets concussed. I can't believe a guy who has been in the system for what 4 years now is less of an option than the guy the signed to the PS. Why even bring Gentry back if he wasn't an option.

As soon as the Steelers sign a player his entire family is invited to the facility for a tryout. A surprising number of them make the roster every season.

Yes and no, Different circumstances...We had Derek Watt...Now, if/or when we do use a FB ( If at all ) It'll be Hayward Jr. since we don't have a true FB per se...

I still liked Gentry, a.still acsending player imo, a great blocker...Who performed well when called upon in limited opportunities...But, That's a good sign when you're cutting " good " players
