If Pierre makes the 53, I think he will be active because of his special teams play.

    Hmm...

Must have gotten him confused with Robert Hunt or someone else then.

Buddy, I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. When you look at as many players as we do college and pro, it's easy to get things mixed up or confuse players. :drinks:

Agreed, but we still see it on this team , and other teams all the time.

Oh trust me... I am not!

Once one draft season concludes, it is onto the next for me! I did love both Hunt and Dotson coming out though and happy we got Dotson. Just wished it would have panned out like I thought it should have.

He never got his shot to be the right guard on this team. That is his best position, but DeCastro was the right guard and he wasn't going anywhere. Then the team decided to sign Daniels to play right guard. It just never worked out for him. I think he may still be a good player at right guard with another team and would be a better fit with a different blocking scheme.

Kaboly Tweeted that the Steelers have made some of their cuts and that at least one surprised him, but he didn't post any names. I'm guessing we will get some news tonight.

The Steelers would only cut guys early that they are not bringing back to the practice squad. Otherwise, it's an advantage for other teams and a disadvantage to the Steelers.

Gentry was seen in a boot. They may be trying to slide him to a practice squad spot by teasing an injury. Not that that's legal, but if the player does it himself because he thinks the team may want him back...

What accrued vet in his right mind would do that. If they get cut there are no waiver requirements (unlike rookies), they become free agents and can join any team that may call for their services. So he puts a boot on hoping to get signed to a PS on the vet minimum of 16,500 a week, instead of hoping to get a call that could earn him a 4 year vet minimum of over a million a year...or 60 grand a week, I guess so if he is a moron.

All depends on if he wants to go play with another team. He might like where he is and is making enough outside of the NFL to want to at least stay with the team for a year and see what happens after that. Of course a team would be dumb not to grab him off a practice squad because I believe he has more value as a blocking TE than a rookie this year.

I'm not saying he would not jump on the PS if offered, but to voluntarily wear a boot to keep other teams from making him an offer to be on a 53 roster would make little sense. If he is on our PS any team at any time could claim him for their own 53. There are a few exemptions, a team can activate a player from the PS and put a hold when they return to the PS, but I think thats limited to 3 times.

True, it would not make sense. The only reason would be to discourage teams once he's signed to the PS and put doubt in their heads about poaching him. Would make better sense to do it once he's actually on the PS though if that's the case.

I wonder which of that group they like the best ? Remember Coach T in the past talked about flooding the cuts to sneak some guys to the practice squad..

I have that feeling as well. I noticed that he was playing some RG the other night so if he’s versatile enough to play both center and guard AND maybe be thrown in there on a gimmicky FB play now and then, he may stick around. Dude runs a 4.8 forty so he’s very athletic for a guy his size. It was funny how the Atlanta broadcast crew was singing his praises the other night during the broadcast. They obviously don’t read this board, lol.

    He will make the 53.

Thompson has come on. He will have a spot on the PS.

I can't remember the players name but we drafted a Guard years back fairly high and he was not very good yet we kept him for years ..As I stated when we drafted him He is not a Center .. He is great as a on the move guy , but not so much when not on the move .. He can play Guard fairly well can play Center if forced into it can also add value at the FB position...

Another possible set he could bring value is the Jumbo set as a 3rd. TE ..That set the outside TE is usually blocking in space as stated he can do that..With all that as well as being drafted fairly high I think he stays..
