Coach may not say it right now, but Mendy will get the start come Sunday. The run game has had zero impact and Dwyer did little to cement his name on it. IMO Mendy starts Sunday because he has more ability to make bigger plays due to his speed. He may dance a lot but come Sunday he gets the ball! Hope he brings his dancing shoes and shows up!!!

Its been said that Mendy forgot how to get to Heinz Field? I am not
sure if there is any truth to that just what I have been told.

God I hope not, if Dwyer can't penetrate the line, what the heck will Mendy do. And with Mendys attitude lately, I wouldn't trust him in a game of this magnitude, he does't want to be here.

Yep and the fact that he could actually pass protect IF HE WANTED TO really makes it suck all the more that his heart is not in it.

Nobody can come to a consensus on who should be our feature back and starter. The fans or the coaches.

Well we need to just put up a poll on here and send it to the coaches and let that be the deciding factor. We are all obviously experts.

I think Mendy's suspension meant he couldn't show up for the game. We'll see... Mendenhall is the Steelers best bet at RB. Hands down.

If he didn't want to be out there playing he wouldn't get frustrated when he was benched. Frustration is an emotion, and there's no way to say the guy has no heart when he's getting frustrated.

Dwyer can't get penetration because his vision is mediocre at best and he has no lateral quickness whatsoever. Mendy can very quickly jump from one gap to the next with his lateral quickness, something Dwyer can't do. Dwyer is full speed ahead and there's no deviating from the gap he's plowing towards, at least not without losing all his momentum. Mendenhall can cut from one gap to the next without losing his momentum.

I don't understand this attitude on this site. Mendenhall gives us the best chance to win, why would anyone be against starting a guy who gives us a chance to win games?

Really? Should we keep running Dwyer for 2 ypc? Have you noticed that we have no running game. What exactly do we have to lose by giving someone else the chance to run with the rock?

One man's "lateral quickness" is another man's "dancing". LOL. You know what I mean though. When Mendy tries to reverse it and find a better hole it drives people crazy. I think the Bus conditioned Steeler fans to expect that as long as we have a slight hole it will be sufficient. That is clearly not the case! Although I don't even think the Bus could've ran through these past few lines we've had.

They can call it dancing if they want, it changes nothing. The fact is 2 yards and a cloud of dust is not a way to win games in todays NFL. The game has changed drastically. RB's are expected to get 4+ ypc these days, not the 2 that were currently getting. What we're doing isn't working, so we need to try something else.

Agree 100%. Dwyer won a lot of hearts over earlier this year with his try-hard running style, but his limitations have glared the past few weeks while our running game has hit a brick wall. We need to feed Mendy the ball vs CIN and let him reclaim his starting spot.

It's real simple and this could be his last shot. Start him ,give him a chance if we see dancing Mendy make a switch. My thinking is after all that has happened and what is on the line these next two games if he don't show now ,he never will.

Just an FYI... All 3 backs are decent backs...not in the peterson class...but running the football in the NFL is about a good cohesive offensive line...did it ever occur to anyone when dwyer was gashing people our oline was opening gaping holes...it does not matter who starts...unless the oline starts playing better they will continue to falter... (minus starters)

PS. i have no proof but im curious to see the YPC when adams was healthy compared to when he was not playing....

I was referring to an article as well as his skipping the game. His comments were very damning, I don't want him near the ball.

:this!: Redmann should of had more carries in Dallas, I think he had only 3 carries for 30 yards and he seemed to run harder.

But I also think Mendy will start next week. Just don't understand some of the decisions this year! ;)

Well it doesn't help ANY of our backs' YPC when we essentially run draw plays all the time. Is it me, or are ALL of our running plays slow-developing? By the time our backs get back to the line of scrimmage, they have already broken 1-2 tackles. It's not just the play of the OL...it's the plays we run and the scheme. Can't we just hit the hole hard and get some tough yards? Johnson isn't a bad fullback, lead with him from time to time as well! Our play calling and selection is horrible when it comes to running. Haley has done a great job of helping Ben stay on his feet and improving the passing game...but our run game seems to be the same as it ever was (or worse). If we didn't have Heath, we'd be dead in the water!

I don't see it that way at all. IF Mendenhall gets another chance, I see no reason why he wouldn't play his ass off. There's like a 95% chance Mendenhall is done here after the season, but not only will he still want to win and still be competitive, he'll want to make a case for as much money as possible from next year's suitors.

There is that, and then why not run to the outside? I know Dwyer is a straight ahead guy, but with Mendy''s speed, why not some outside plays?

If we hit it quick, it would work. The few times we run outside it is either the long end-around (with the reverse and/or double reverse in the mix) or the same slow-developing plays...just to the outside.
Those quick hitting outside plays would work for Mendy and really work for Rainey. I guess we can't run a play without pulling a guard to lead the back. That works sometimes, but not all the time.

our guards are not fast enough to get out and lead block. we may see a better mendy to the outside now with DD and beachum. he hasen't played with them in the game yet.
