What's Cookin? preseason dress rehearsal

    My son and a friend are coming over to watch the first half with me tonight. He's put in his order that he wants soup beans and cornbread and, of course, momma is taking care of her boy and delivering the goods - which is fine by me! :thumbs up:

    My kid used to hate seeing any pink in his steak, despite my efforts to the contrary. Until one time recently at Texas Roadhouse when he ordered his steak medium rare. I thought he messed up but he said no that's how he likes them now. The steak came to our table and my wife, my kid and I and even the waitress who brought it looked at it immediately and said, "there's no way that is medium rare!". He was just too nice to send it back.

    Depends on the cut. I like medium for ribeyes and porterhouse/t-bones. Medium well for NY Strips and Filet Mignon.

    All the steaks and burgers on these menus and your sone brings bean soup and cornbread. Plenty of time for that great meat during regular season, but bean soup...always spot on..especially the next day in my work van..no problem as I work alone, lol. Damn good eats tonight folks.

    I am the son of a butcher. I've spent plenty of time cutting steaks to the specifications of customers and carving and trimming steaks and great pieces of meat when I was much younger.

    Putting ketchup on Filet Mignon is a travesty of condiments! Now, a little garlic butter, some mushrooms, onions, or some onion straws with certain cuts or au jus with horseradish with prime rib?...I'm all in!

    Now I'm hungry!

    Always a fan of bean soup but not when it's over 100° out! Although I'm not sure how that's any different than eating a hot hamburger. Maybe I'm just triggered by the word soup when it's sweltering out.

    Yep...Same way, But I like my Burgers almost well done, don't want any pink...But like most Steaks medium, personal preference :shrug:

    Lol...You sound like you have the same relationship I have with my Wife...I always try to rile her up... Especially when it comes to how she likes her meats prepared

    My boy doesn't like any fat whatsoever on a steak, he doesn't like the texture. I'm a medium rare ribeye guy (yeah Texas roadhouse actually makes a very good steak) and my son likes medium rare sirloin. Pains me when I see him trimming any fat away. I'm like boy that adds flavor to a steak. My local butcher has 52 days dry aged steaks on occasion and they are pricey but the best tasting steak I've ever had and I've been to every "great" steakhouse NY, Chicago, etc. My pops used to say the best meat never made it east of St Louis. Don't know how true that is anymore. Now I'm hungry as hell!!

    I mis-read your son's dinner request, soup, beans, and cornbread lol...I read it like the soup was bean soup..like ham and bean soup, if your son does not like fat, he won't like ham and bean soup lol

    I don't eat the fat either. I leave it on when cooking for flavor, but I cut it off when I eat. It's also why I don't eat bacon.....unless I'm eat at someone else's house, and don't want to be rude. What the heck is wrong with the quote function.
