This thread is a waste of disk space.

Seriously. Why the hell would you trade your starting running back and one of your starting receivers for a back that wants $16 million? That Harris has had to perform behind a patch work offensive line for two seasons and played half of last year with a foot injury should mitigate the difference in stats between he and Taylor.

A huge eff no to this disaster.

Jaylen Warren might be better than both at his value. I mean if Taylor was healthy he’s clearly the best player out of the 3 but I don’t trust his health and certainly not for giving up a first!

I’m not impressed with Najee overall for being a first round pick.

I'm not trading anything for a running back in search of a second contract. I have no desire to shell out over 10 million a season for a RB. Ever. Our best bet is to have someone like Warren continuously spelling the main back and just draft the next guy after Najee's 5th year option.

RB's get hurt too much and their production falls off a cliff in their late 20's. The best plan is to spend as few $$ as possible at the position.

This seems to have become the mindset of many teams now.

This trend actually began when teams watched the Leveon Bell saga unfold. As you'll recall, Bell said at the time that he was holding out not only for himself, but for future running backs. Ironically, he not only screwed himself, he screwed those future RBs he claimed to be looking out for.

The Bell situation definitely played into this mindset, but there are other factors. I'm sure they saw Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, and Alvin Kamara all miss time (some of it significant time), as well as Todd Gurley, LeVeon Bell and Ezekiel Elliott's game fall off a cliff QUICKLY and got scared to pay the position. Gurley was 4yr/57mil, Elliott 6yr/ 90mill, Kamara 5yr/75mil, CMC 4yr/64mil, Bell 4yr/52mil etc.

Also, the position is crowded with talent and there is less talent drop off. There are only really 2 RB's per team generally that get touches vs 4-5 WR's. This just means that most teams have good talent at the position. The talent gap between a solid RB and the average RB is also pretty low. Quality RB's can be found later in the draft and what money can buy is crazy at the position. You can get a David Montgomery, Gus Edwards, or Miles Sanders for less than 3 million against your cap. We just saw the list of names that had big money deals that either got hurt or didn't work out. Why shell out big money at the position when you can just rotate guys in every 4-5 years and be done with it?

I'd rather draft a 3rd round back than make that dumb trade... I wouldn't sign any RB to a second contract let alone trade for one and sign him. I wouldn't even trade Loudermilk and Dotson for this guy because that contract just isn't worth it

Well people.....You can't say.....I want a more passing down the field league (not everyone wants this...especially not Me) , and then wonder why RBs are so devalued.

Did I miss something? Did we lose last week? Why is Bennie posting? Is it a sign of the apocalypse?

Benny got bored and decided to troll the board with this nonsense. They figured some of us would get pissed off at the pure stupidity of the suggestion.

Now if the Jets want to move Abanikanda now that they have Cook, I wouldn't mind trading a late-round pick for him, but I doubt that is coming. More likely, the Jets will move or cut one of their veteran backs.

Agreed if there was someone better I would. But I think we have a line problem. I don't think warren had been able to go up the middle.

The irony is that teams aren't willing to pay first rd money or value rbs as 1st rd talent, but expect first rd talent in exchange for them.

There's a difference between seeking a 1st round pick and expecting a 1st round pick. It's like when we were negotiating the Claypool trade last year, we probably asked for a 1st round pick but settled for a 2nd.

I understand there's a difference. It's the principle of the request that's the issue. Not to the mention the Steelers didn't settle for a second. They robbed the other team of a second. No one with half a brain ever thought Claypool was a first rd talent when he was traded and many didn't think he was a second rd. The colts really do believe Taylor is first rd talent....they're just not willing to acknowledge it, or risk resetting the market to pay him as such (or at least not near what he's asking for).

My question is if the RB market is so low that JT can’t get a deal, yet teams have to give up a trade package for him that starts at a 1st round pick. What are RBs worth again?

I agree, but I also think the results of some the few that did get a huge payday, and in many cases the equal or better play from their backups or successors continues the trend if de-value in the position.
