The Pittsburgh Steelers as Super Bowl contenders

Because they are not sure about Kenny Pickett right now....It will change if he make a huge step forward...It will be the key

 

That is pretty much my take on it. From all I've heard and read the talking heads are in a waiting game with Kenny. I've heard the pros and cons. One guy was saying Kenny snuck up on the league (whatever the hell that means) and opposing defensive coaches didn't know his talent level and were not properly prepared to face him. That makes little sense to me but that was his reason for not being sold on Kenny just yet. Then the next guy said Kenny's maturity is amazing for such a short time in NFL and barring injuries he will be a force in the AFC.

Pretty much we are in a wait and see mode.

I'm a KFP guy, but how doesn't that make sense. You see it all the time in every sports. It's hard to attack a weakness if You don't know what it is. This is why You see a whole hell of a lot of one time wonders. It's the guys that can get better at their weakness that go on with long-term better careers.

 

Oh, I heard some say that we should have drafted Willis at 20 instead of Pickett.

Of course, they're not saying that now but they were on draft day.

 

I hope for the best but if the Steelers face a team with equal talent, I'm worried about coaching decisions. This is because of Mike Tomlin's history of poor clock management and seeming lack of in-game adjustments.

 

yes, scoring a few TD's a game would be nice, especially thru the AIR

the AFC is stacked with a lot of talent. If we were in the NFC, I'd like our odds more this season.

And I truly hope that Willis does develop into a serviceable QB. He’s a heckuva nice kid and easy to root for.

 

There is definitely talk about this team, but many still have the Steelers 3rd or even 4th because of the division we are in, and I get it. We are seeing things in pre-season that are exciting, and many teams in the conference and our division are seeing the same thing. I do not think any of us really know how good this team will be until we are a few weeks in, I expect they can compete with anyone, team could go 12-5 and not surprise me, we could also go 7-10 or 8-9 and and actually be better statistically and more competitive than last year, the division and conference are just that tight.

Agreed. I Love what I see, but there are so many factors. I still think We don't finish lower than 2nd place in the AFCN.

 

Just to be clear, I'm not saying the Steelers are going to be in the super bowl if Pickett makes a big jump, but I do believe the Steelers could be a contender if that is the case ...So they would have a chance

 

If Kenny makes the jump and improves coaching will be this teams biggest disadvantage. Mainly because of MC with Tomlins flaws you listed above a close second.

 

I noticed Benny has been strangely silent during the pre-season. I guess he's waiting until the first bad loss of the season to reappear.

 

agree. just a hard conference, but will fun to COMPETE!!!!
