Should we be concerned about the run game?

No, I'm not at all worried about the running game. It's as if some of you forgot how this team finished the 2022 season. Harris is a beast once he gets going, but he needs carries to do that. He and Warren are an excellent 1-2 punch. The offensive line should be better in the run game. Seumalo is an upgrade at left guard in all phases of the game. Moore showed up for camp in amazing shape, with reports that he is quicker and stronger. Adding Washington to the mix should also help. The run game should be fine, but it may take some time. Teams are going to keep loading up to stop the run until Pickett proves they can't get away with it. Also, the 49ers have a hell of a defense.

Najee needs to treat this as a contract year. If he doesn't break the 4.0 YPC barrier this year the Steelers will need to think long and hard about picking up his option.

Let's hope the OL gels quickly. They have a big dog coming September 10th.

Impressive math skills! Unfortunately that’s not what the team has shown. It’s o yards, 1 yard, 2 yards, and then a big run. Nice try thoigh

Actually when trying to look at statistics you should throw out the high and the low then average the rest

Otherwise the results can be skewed

    Just saying

The Warren run for TD reminded me of Willie Parker in SBXL. Faneca pulled right and made an epic, hall of fame block on Seahawks LB. Steelers O-line performed perfectly for Warren TD.

Then you are missing the point. The original poster only removed the high end by the starters, left the low end by players who won't make the roster, and then was discouraged.
jeh1856 was just pointing out that one-sided removal of events will easily skew the results.

our starters with the starting offensive line last game had 3 rushes. najee had 2 for 6 yards. that by my impressive math skills is 3 yards per carry, not 1 or 2 that your math skills indicate. warren had 1 run for 62 yards. any way you slice it it is better than 1 to 2 yards as you say.

now lets look at the two starters for the first game, with the starting offensive line. warren had 3 carries for 16 yards. mcfarland had 3 carries for 18. that's 5.6666 yards per carry. we probably don't intend to line up the backup o-line and backup RB's during the regular season games to run the ball, but i'm just guessing. so nice try right back at ya.

Hadn't given the running gamemuch thought. We are not really running the ball with consistency. But I think we'll be ok. The offensive line should be better this year and with Najee and Warren we have two solid running backs. I think we'll see more running this Thursday night. We'll see what happens

Zero against their starting defense. But still think we'll be ok because now we are a passing threat and that will open things up.

I agree but someone make a thread about the lack of running game even if our first unit had so few run and one of those run was a 62 run TD
