Can he do it consistently vs 1's that study and prep for his game? Can he hold up against NFL linemen in the run game? I think he will need to get a little bigger and stronger to hold the edge in the run game.

At this point is a situational pass rusher that will give Watt, Highsmith, and Golden a breather. A team can never have enough pass rushers.

Based on limited time in preseason do you believe that he would be a starter on over half the teams in the NFL at this point?

    I did.

For that matter, very impressive overall. People tend to forget how ridiculously strong Josh Allen is overall. Dude is going to shake a lot of would be sacks. That is also not accounting for his insane contact balance.

For Nick to even have such an effect on a throw by the games most powerful thrower of the Football is nothing short of awesome.

I never suggested that. Someone else did, but you might want to acknowledge that you were wrong in claiming that he only did it against backups. He played two possessions against Buffalo's starters and looked good doing it.

That said, Golden also looked good tonight. The Steelers needed to address depth at outside linebacker and they clearly did so.

Agreed Golden is great as well.

I honestly wonder what will be looking like in a couple years. But I'm also worried we won't be able to afford some of these guys in 4 years.

They are a long way from having to worry about that with Herbig and Golden will be long gone by then.

Herbig is pretty quickly becoming a beast from either side. I mean TJ didn't start being dominant until they primarily had him right side. Herbig is switching up on the regular and making waves on each.

Agreed that's what I was noticing last night was him playing on both sides.

What really needs to be asked is how can we get this playmaker on the field more?
I hope the Steelers are constantly looking at this, because all he does it make plays.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Because highsmith and watt can play the entire time. They don't really need to be rested.

Watt and Highsmith both need rest during games, you want those guys to still be effective late in the game.

I also seen Golden, Watt, and Highsmith put pressure on Allen. I don't get why many fans have this either or with players.....Like We can use both Golden, and Herbig....Especially when We can use more than one.

I think there will also be packages in passing down that all 3 will be on the field and we may be able to move one of them inside. For example, Highsmith guarded Diggs in the slot on one pattern.

They did some of that when they had Watt, Dupree, and Highsmith, so I can can certainly see them try it again this year. Watt and Highsmith have both moved inside in those situations.

Baldinger is a huge Nick Herbig fan. Notice that these three plays were against the Bills' starting offensive line.

That he's a bad*** and could be a starter on several team. If not for watt and Highsmith, he would be taking over and be a great starter.

It will be interesting week1 to see how we match up defensively. The 49ers will steal a page from Brady if we bring the blitz all day, and just go behind the blitzer. Contain is going to be huge vs the run as well. I'm actually glad we will be getting this type of test right away. Looking forward to an awesome matchup. We were expected to lose at Buffalo and at Cincy to start the last 2 seasons, and we got wins in both of those openers. Our LBs will need to be THAT GOOD again.

I was wondering about that. Who in his/her right mind disagree with what I posted? May be a Ravens plant from another message board.

They are also very good at attacking the middle of the field. Kittle is a brutal matchup for this defense.

Steelers might have hit on all five of their first five picks in this years draft. And it looks like they hit on 5 in last years draft.

2022 and 2023 draft classes could end up being the 2003 and 2004 draft classes that ended up winning two super bowls and going to 3. Now, those two draft were very too heavy in that they drafted two hall of gamers 1st and then got huge contributors in Ike Taylor and Max Starks.

These last two draft classes mimics the Seattle Seahawks drafts in the early 2010s. The defense has HUGE depth and the QB is young.

The Steelers can be a running team in some games and a passing team in others. If Kenny Pickett is a franchise QB, the Steelers will likely win a Super Bowl in the years Patrick Mahomes stumbles. Much like when Brady stumbled in 2005-06 and 2010-11. 2008-09 was Brady’s ACL tear season so he literally stumbled that year, haha.
