Comparing career stats and comparing what each qb has done in Pittsburgh are two different things in this case. I’m sure Tomlin doesn’t give a crap what Trubisky did in Chicago - that was a different system under different coaches with different players. He looks at both qbs from the perspective of what have they done for him here. As a fan I’m looking at that too. What has he done for the Steelers compared to what Mason has done.

Again.....what is Your deal with bringing in other teams. This is a Steelers site, and I'm a Steelers fan. I give 2 F**KS about the other teams. Last year We(Steelers)beat Brady, and lost to NE. Nuff said.

As a Steelers fan that's the only way I can look at it . Let's turn it around. How long did Chicago care about what Kordell Stewart did in Pittsburgh once He was a Bear. Not very freaking long. Yet I'm sure one of their fans was like .....well He went to two afc championship with the Steelers...., and I'm sure one of their smart fans said .....How does that help us in Chicago. LoL

I am tho because the scenario you laid out makes no sense. He was on his final year of his contract when extended. He could have been cut for the same savings against the cap. If they thought they made a mistake they would have just cut Trubisky. There was no downside to it. They chose to extend Trubisky because they want him here as the back up. There isn’t another angle that makes sense.

No, the Steelers keeping Trubisky around due his mobility is not a fact. It is an opinion that you supported only by talking about a trend. Spare me the narrative that Canada wants or needs a mobile quarterback to run his offense. That is pure speculation. People here claim he said it, but the evidence does not exist. In fact, the only quote I've ever seen on this board on the topic is Canada saying his offense didn't require a mobile quarterback.

Your argument is misleading because it compares part of his career to all of Rudolph's. When you look at all the information available, Trubisky has a far better resume.

Why are you sure of something that makes no sense? Systems matter, but so do players. It is impossible to correctly evaluate Trubisky without looking at his entire career. I can't imagine Tomlin being foolish enough to use the fale premise of what each guy has done as a Steeler.

Also, Trubisky was playing with different players against different opponents last season than those Rudolph played with and against in his career. He was also playing with many different coaches than Rudolph had in 2019, the year he got most of his starts.

I believe it's really too early to tell if Z. Wilson is a dumpster fire. I didn't like the pick, and thought he was taken way too high..., but the guy has only played a few games. Now Mariota ....I've seen enough. Another Guy drafted because He could run. Wonder when they will start drafting wrs, and rbs because they can throw, or OL men because they can catch???

Wilson has started 22 games in the NFL, which is more than a few, but I get your point. The issue isn't just his poor play. He regressed during his second season. Many Steelers fans may not realize it because they might have only seen him in that one game. Even then, he threw two interceptions and a third that should have been picked off, but the larger issue is his attitude. The team scored three points in a loss to the Patriots and he refused to accept any accountability. It seemed as if he lost his teammates. In many ways, he is the opposite of Pickett, who clearly puts in the work as a quarterback and as a teammate. Wilson is young and talented enough that maybe the light goes on and he figures it out. Maybe a year of watching Rodgers will help. Last year, he was a dumpster fire.

Is he a better backup quarterback right now than Trubisky? Maybe. Trubisky at least seems to have his teammates on his side. I'm not sure that is the case with Wilson.

A few was a mistake on wording, but I didn't realize it was 22 games. I thought around 16. Yes He must accept responsibility, and He must have His teams behind him

This is very important for a QB to be mobile in the current NFL

This is not the 1990s anymore

Wrong (Broncos), wrong (both Dolphins), wrong (PJ Walker? Seriously?), wrong (Huntley is even more erratic as a passer), maybe (Rush is a solid No. 2), yes (though Winston also throws killer interceptions), yes (I would have been happy to see them dump Trubisky for Minshew), meh (kind of a coin flip with Heinecke), maybe (Dalton is the same guy, but older), maybe (I don't see a huge difference, but Brissett is cheaper), No, though Taylor has moments, No unless they actually don't start Purdy.....

Overall, I'm agreeing with you on this one. It is too early to give up on Wilson, though the Jets are in a tough spot. If Rodgers is healthy and plays two more years, they will have to make a decision on Wilson without seeing much of him in games.

Quarterbacks use their mobility a lot more than running backs and receivers throw or linemen catch. That comparison doesn't really work.

I get your point, though. The primary focus should be on their ability to throw the ball. Give me a good pocket passer over a Lamar Jackson or Justin Fields any day.

Jets just have really poor player development, especially on quarterbacks. Guys leave there and do great somewhere else. Look at Jeno. Even Teddy Bridgewater. Jets front office is always a mess, no consistency, always grabbing for the quick fix, never playing long-term. But I watched them from section 528 Row Q with a broken heart last year beating the Steelers in the last 4 minutes. That's where I was yelling Kenny Kenny Kenny during the first half like everybody else in the stadium.

Not to mention the Jets were decimated by player injuries last year.
