When will Nick Herbig start over Golden?

You know I noticed that too but decided to be more mature about it than you!

 

Herbig will backup Watt while Golden will spelll Highsmith

 

I think they are comfortable with this arrangement, if they keep 5 Roche has been (reportedly) having a quiet but decent camp, that's about as good and depth wipe room we have had a while.

 

That is probably a highly sought after career.

In times where it seems that TJ Watt goes out for a breather, or hopefullly doesn't get hurt.

I like what he brings, young fella is gonna see some snaps. Between giving Highsmith or TJ breathers.

He has a good first step and high motor in him.

 

If ,and that is a big word this younger Herbig is as good against Starters with proven experience as he showed Against that chump from TB Friday night. Then the Steelers need to put him in a position to stay on field Aka Ilb

 

If herbig or golden are starting we are in a bad way

 

I think Herbig has natural pass rush ability and has a great motor. To be a player that can start and withstand the physical demands of playing the EDGE, he needs to put on at least 15-20 pounds to be able to better handle taking on blockers and not getting moved as easily. I like him a lot, but he needs to really get bigger and stronger, while trying to maintain as much quickness as possible. He has promise, but there is no need to rush him onto the field. Let him develop properly and come off the bench to give Watt or Highsmith a break and he will be fine as he works towards more.

Golden is a player that I think can do alright in spot duty. He has experience and knows what's expected of him to play the position and what he needs to do personally to be able to do it. but I don't want him getting any extended play at the position. Watt and Highsmith are the two specimens that are built to play the position and have the skills that they have attained while working on their craft. Let's hope they both stay healthy.

 

Doesn't hurt that TJ is mentoring him either.

I'll say it this way.... herbig looks like he would be a starter in over half the nfl teams.

 

I think it's a stretch to believe he would be a starter on over half of the NFL teams.

It's one thing to rush the passer against mostly 2nd and 3rd string NFL players. Can he do it vs 1#s? Can he hold up vs the run game physically?

He's shown promise as a rookie but it takes time. Time to develop physically and mentally. The good thing is that he has a lot of NFL experience in front of him to learn from.

 

Did you not see him putting pressure on Allen?
