When will Nick Herbig start over Golden?

I believe he was the standout in the second half.

I just wonder what they'll do with Markus Golden, once they see Nick stepping up.

I thought i said markus golden.

 

Last I checked Golden isn't a starter, he's the #3 OLB , both of them will play.

 

I'm not meaning starting over Highsmith. I was just meaning Golden.

Right now Nick only played the second half. I doubt they'll let him even have his chance next week in the first half. While Goldson will

 

Nick is a rookie and this is preseason. He still has a lot to learn and has not seen a full 17 game season yet. No need to rush at this time.

 

100% agree. Soonest I'm seeing we will see him being a name called on will be mid season.

 

What? TJ and Highsmith may get 1 or 2 series next week, why don't you think Nick Herbig would be out on the field with Goldson after TJ and Alex sit down?

I hope this shuts down all the fan talk about bringing in another OLB, or worse yet, trying to move Nick inside.

 

I just don't see them moving that fast on him. I think it'll be the same as what we saw last night. And maybe watt gets some more play in, if he wants.

I don’t necessarily agree. I think if he continues to shine in preseason and camp that he will get a couple situational plays early on. I doubt he gets super significant playing time, but if he shows he can get to the QB early and often… I bet they throw him out there for a snap or 3 in the first few weeks.

Watt and Highsmith will get nearly all the snaps. We didn’t pay them both to sit on the sideline for rookies… but we do rotate a bit throughout the game to keep everyone fresh and I think he has a chance to ball out and earn a few snaps.

Likely at some point around the end of the first half of the season. Should Markus Golden get injured, expect him to contribute sooner. Health permitting for Nick of course.


This all said, he definitely showed he has what it takes to be a contributing factor for the team. Now it is merely about stacking good game after another. Nowhere but up for him as I see it.

 

I can agree with Highsmith and watt are going to get majority. But I still don't think they're going to give Nick to seeing more until a few weeks. And at earliest mid season to getting more snaps than golden

 

Actually two years ago whoever the backup was that got pissy and left he actually had close to 1/3 the snaps between the three

 

Ingram and he somehow tried to make everyone believe he had been promised more of a role even though he was dinged up to start

 

IF Herbig makes a step forward in preseason, I kind of would like to see them pick a side for Herbig/Golden during the regular season. That way the 2 players on each side could spend the week together planning on how they were going to beat their assigned Tackle that week.

 

He hit the swim move, that TJ taught him, quite nicely.

 

He's hung to be a force to deal with in the coming years. and I don't know what we will do with what it would cost to keep him, watt, Highsmith.

 

Watt's contract is up after the 2025 season. He will be 31. If Herbig develops into something special, I imagine they would be making a choice between him or Watt at that point.

 

That's not a decision i want to make.

 

roche didn't have a bad game either and still might have something to say about this. at least the golden part. just sayin.

 

It'll be interesting to watch but it'll also be a good problem to have.
