I know, I am overtly optimistic and the cup half full going into the season. In the last two years, between the talent acquired in the drafts, trades and FAs, the Steelers revamped this team. I cannot wait for the season to start.

"I feel like I was born to be a Steeler," Herbig said. "I’m supposed to be here, wearing that Black and Gold. I feel that Black and Gold running through my veins right now. It feels like exactly what God wanted for me."

All I have to say about it all is.....KFP played against backups, and made it look fairly easy....like He should, and I give Him props for that. I only seen one mistake....when He scrambled out of the pocket once when He should have just stepped up. Other than that He looked awesome....as He should have.....on the other hand...Trubisky played against backups, and looked like it was His 1st time playing.

Pickett against backups who weren't prepared, that is. Opening drives are one thing and the rest of the game is another. But yeah Pickett did everything Coach expected better than expected. Lookit Mayfield - He struggled early but came on as the game went on. Pickett excelled right off the bat.

I don't have a problem with that approach, but I'm not sure the team is really going that route. If they were, why wouldn't he get some time at fullback last night?

I get your point, but you have to look at the actual plays. Regardless of the competition, you have to look at the quality of the throws. He made some accurate ones on the run. The throw on the touchdown had to be perfect to get there and it was. Of course, he has to do it against better competition, but he made good decisions and accurate, strong throws. That is what is worth getting excited about. Someone mentioned him scrambling when he should have stepped up, which is an ongoing issue. I'm not sure what play that was. I'll have to watch it again.

You nailed my thoughts. Last night really highlighted Picketts growth. That TD pass to Pickens was on the money and in stride, which allowed Jorgito to do the rest. Doing what he "should do" against backups kinda validates that he's at the very least a competent QB in this league, which proves of his growth. Any of yinz see Russell Wilson's awful performance against backups? Ain't getting too high on him and proclaiming him to be anything, but attacking the MOF is an encouraging development on the parts of Pickett and Canada.

He’s going to be a good one, how good remains to be seen. I won’t join that hype train yet, I’ve seen on social media fans claiming he will be a top 5 QB this season. But as far as him being the next franchise guy, yeah, he is and I didn’t need last night to come to that conclusion.

Yes, we want to win football games and thats why we correctly were calling for Pickett to be put in last year. You’re talking about practice, practice! Ya’ll talking about practice.

Hey I get scrambling when You have to, and He had to a few times, but one play He scrambled, and He could easily just stepped up. I'm not downing Him. I have faith in the young Man....I just don't want to see Him make this a bad habit, and I don't think He will.

    Some of my thoughts…..

Nick Herbig is Too Small to play NFL OLB!! He said oh yeah, watch This!!!! The Famed Great AFC North QBs will have pressure ALL game long!!!

Moore will be week one starter at LT. Jones showed promise at times but I also saw him struggle against speed rushers and gave up a sack.

    Benton is a keeper!!!

    We have three RBs.

Heyward is TE #2 and FB #1

Somebody needs to be fired if Green EVER plays Center again!!!

Butler, Byrd and White will be lucky if they make the PS!

Thompson at safety is going to give Norwood a fight, maybe even Killebrew.

    Mason is better than Trubisky!!!!

You are right to point it out. It was an area that was a problem for Pickett as a rookie. He has to start trusting his line and stepping up in the pocket more.

Not seeing Porter last night was a big disappointment. He needs he reps and I want to see how he plays in a game. Hopefully, they can get their secondary out there next week. They need the time together.

The young man is smart. Now you have every fan of the Nation behind you and rooting for you. Whether that means a single thing only God knows but its much easier to row downstream than up. Love this guy already!!

Folks said don't draft TJ, Harrison is too small, Chad Brown is too small, Kirkland is too big for a LB, etc etc. Nobody knows somebody's heart and desire. Brady was nobody but he outworked everyone and had a chip on his shoulder.

I think Pickett has shown enough promise that we should all be optimistic. Is he there yet? Of course not. Is there reason to believe he can make huge strides from year one to year two? Absolutely! What’s perplexing is that there are still quite a few fans who seem to have a bias against him for some reason and are expecting him to fail. Not sure where that comes from.

The young man is saying and doing all the things you want to see from a young QB. He's on the sidelines studying and if he remains humble and a gym rat so to speak the upside is there. Hard work usually overcomes talent that doesn't work hard. He seems like a baller. We need to see him this year looking off safeties, going through his progressions and knowing when to live to fight another down. If the OL gels and gives him protection then its on him to make those year 2 progressions (really a year and a half).

Apparently, he's hard to impress which doesn't impress me in the least unless he happens to be the reincarnation of George Halas. Damn us all for having hope. He can spin it any old way he wants, but the throw to GP14 for the TD was absolutely perfectly thrown in tight coverage.

I don't see why you take Mitch out of a preseason game with that passer rating of 0.0.

He played against the 2nd team players, he should have continued to play against the 3rd team players until he got it right.

Although, I do understand them wanting to get him out of there before Kendrick Green came on the field. :)
