Things look very gloomy right now in the Steel City...but with wins against the Bengals and Browns...we get in the dance....anything can happen once we are there!!

Yeah, we beat the Bengals and we're essentially in the dance. We can hang with any team out there so anything is possible come playoff time. I think I'd rather have to face adversity at the end of the year than a cakewalk, but at least the cakewalk guarntees access to the playoffs. Next two weeks will be very interesting and entertaining.

We are almost always in every game, so anything can happen, but I wish a few Ws would fall our way. Good things can happen.

Steelers dont have to hope for any other team to lose to make the playoffs. With 2 games to go.. win both games and they are in. They may go one and done. But there is 0% chance of winning the SB, if the are not even in the dance.

"Believe" may be a bit strong at this point. However, I still "hope." This team has shown flashes this year which should give us hope, but those flashes then get obscured by mind-numbing weirdness that elevates our ability to lose games to a bizarre art form. It would be hard for me to "believe" that if we get in as a #6 that we can overcome the likes of Denver & New England. I'd still be hoping against hope that Baltimore can fall backwards into the #3 spot (which looks highly unlikely) so our road to the Super Bowl would go through Baltimore, then Houston, and then who knows? Steel Warrior is right about one thing. This team isn't the one that had the heart in 2005 to go out there and dominate on the road. Yet, we have Ben back looking like Ben, we have DeCastro back, Wallace is catching balls again (ironically it's Brown causing the more recent heartache), the special teams made it through a game without committing a penalty, in fact the O-Line didn't commit a penalty either. All season long, my feeling has been if we could just put all the positive aspects of our team together at the same time, we could beat any team....if we could just not make the 1 play (or in Cleveland's case, the 8 plays) that would end up costing us in the end. We're still making those costly plays, though, so I'm not sure I'm convinced we can, in fact, go the full 60 minutes without shooting ourselves in the foot....and the weird part is, you NEVER KNOW where the weirdness is going to come from.

That being said, I will be there pulling for the Steelers to overcome themselves and beat the Bengals next week and get in and find a winning identity that can get this team into the playoffs. And no....if we beat the Bengals that doesn't 'pretty much get us in the playoffs.' Ironically, by beating the Bengals next week, it gives the Ravens the division and, without the bye to play for, the Ravens will be tanking in that final week (#4 is a better playoff position than #3 this year). That means we need to beat the Browns at home in week 17 as well, and anybody who thinks that will be an easy win hasn't been watching this team this year. No win will come easy, but the capability is there....

As an ADDED BONUS, there is a particular person I work with that I have not won a football bet against in 6 attempts (I have never bet against the Steelers). I have convinced him to bet against me for the remainder of the season, but I have convinced HIM to take the Steelers. Since he can't lose, I will forgo the $10 per week if it will help guarantee one more Steelers victory. You're welcome, Steeler Nation!

    HERE WE GO!!!!!

STEELWARRIOR, you have your own downer thread. Please leave this one to those of us that still have hope and believe that anything can happen. You and the others that waht to throw this season out have your right, but please do not pollute this thread with your piss-poor attitudes! This is the time that we should all unite and believe. If you don't want to, that's your right. but leave us to our hopes, please.

I agreed with this statement until yesterday. There is no such thing as "we should be fine..." this year. They're NOT fine - and they're playing with NO heart. If that doesn't change we lose out and perhaps end tied with the Clowns. If it does change, maybe we go to the dance and make a little noise. We shall see.

I'm pleased this official thread has started. All those unofficial positive threads were getting out of hand ;)

And yes, I do still believe. Probably to a similar extent as mdbates - it ain't over til it's over, but the team HAS to learn how to keep their heads up, and either play with some more consistency or make some more splash plays a la the bomb to Wallace last night.

We were 12-4 last year and didn't need anyone to lose for us to make it in. Enough already!

Why do you think the Bengals game will be such an easy win for us? This is the second time you have made a comment like that and I am just not getting it. We lost to some really subpar teams this year and the Bengals do have a winning record and are very familiar with us. I do not see this as an easy win at all. With this team, there is no such thing as an easy win.

I believe that this team will find its winning self, with the game against the Bengals. All the instruments are there. It's time for them to fine tune...

I keep wanting this team to give me something to believe in...
I still believe the talent is there.
But with the lack of effort they have given, I am reduced to simply HOPING they show up and play like they are capable of, any given week...
    GO STEELERS!!!:herewego!:

I belive i'll have another cookie. Fresh ones out of the oven are the best. Especially with a tall glass of ice cold milk.
