Nick Herbig is a fun interview to watch. That guy is going to be a fan favorite. Oh and he had a pretty good game too.

On SNR they have been talking up Riley as a guy who will split time as the slot CB, along with Sullivan if he makes the team, and Peterson.

I think it would be as well but the work even in a vanilla game plan looked better than others have in similar situations that last half dozen years as well.

You seem to have a problem with anyone that is excited about the future with Pickett leading the way.

You fought tooth and nail against everyone last season calling for Trubisky to be benched in favor of Pickett and we were all clearly right about that move.

And it’s not just what he did last night, it’s going back to last season and watching his growth. It’s pretty obvious this guy has it.

What could we use? Anything? Maybe better depth at C, CB, and/or OLB? Roster looks very good.

Most of the backups on the o-line did not look good as evidence of Rudolph being sacked twice. I believe the Steelers will end up with 8 o-linemen on the 53-man roster. Moore, Seumalo, Cole, Daniels, Okorafor, B. Jones, Herbig, and they will need to keep Dotson, in case Cole gets hurt for a longer stretch and Daniels has to be moved. Reports were that Anderson was having a good camp, but he didn't show well in the "stadium" last night. I just hope Tomlin doesn't keep Green for sentimental reasons.

I expect the ILBs to make some splash plays this season, unlike those guys from last season.
McFarland if he stays healthy looks like he will be the #3 RB.
If Pickett and Pickens make that second year leap, along with the big play ability of Austin, this offense should be much improved.

They have Golden and Herbig at OLB, I don't see the need for more depth, after cuts maybe sign a CB, and a center.

My main concern is the offensive line, if they do not gel and provide the protection we have another crap season. There were some breakdowns last night and the coming games will show whether they are coming together as a unit. Hope so because the offense has some great weapons and should be hungry.

Side note, how infuriating was the PF call on the textbook tackle by our DB?? Pissed me off to no end!!

Mitch had a John Belushi passer rating last night. Zero Point Zero.

Rome wasn’t built in a day but yeah, the Steelers looked good in the first preseason game.

not worried about the OL, new parts, will need time to gel. I think by a few games into the regular season they’ll be looking really good.

I think we’ll be ok at backup QB,

nothing could be further from the truth. I’m not going to proclaim him as the next great qb after a single drive against backups. Why is that such a difficult concept to grasp? He did what he was supposed to do against backups. Let’s crown him king! At the time trubisky was outplaying Pickett. Supposedly y’all want to win football games, but at the same time want to play the guy that wasn’t performing as well. Makes total sense.

Funny to see people who just want fights for nothing.....We can't be excited by young players and we can't criticize for other thing!

Imagine if the only thing we could do in a forum was just to say cliches,it would be boring like crazy but it looks like that's what he wants but it won't be the case!

He has to live with that, otherwise this is not the forum for you!

    Right

acknowledging the situation(backups) is a far cry from putting them in a no win situation. The offense looking good for a single drive against backups is hardly cause for celebration. I’m more concerned with how Pickett fare vs zone coverage this year. How he does with playaction? Will slants and passes to the flat be thrown behind receivers again or will they be led? We get answers to those questions and then see where Pickett stands as the future franchise qb.

Rudolph is way better than Trubisky and always has been. Way better than most backups and many starters in the league. Most disrespected guy in football. I think the Stillers just keep him around to kick around. Just as so much of the press never has anything good - if anything at all - to say about the Steelers, the Steelers never have pretty-much anything to say about Rudolph. He uncorks that PERFECT bomb for a TD last night and all the press has to say today is Austin Austin Austin. Austin wouldn't o' got nuthin' if Rudolph hadn't put that shot right on the money with a guy in his face. Last year pre-season they never gave him a chance to show his stuff against any starters and this year they're looking like they'll do it again.

Yeah we should never have played Pickett and let Trubisky guide us to the Superbowl last year. Pickett only went 7-2 down the stretch, Trubisky would have gone 9-0.

Maybe just my opinion, but after watching this offense struggle all last season, seeing Pickett lead an opening drive against backups for a TD IS actually something worth celebrating.
