Tough gig calling out guys here who bash Tomlin/Steelers AND those who are being TOO optimistic.

Yep. His arrow was pointing up at the end of last season and it has carried over. He puts the work in and it shows.

Why does everyone go straight to the "grocery baggers" cliche? Those guys may not have been starters but they certainly weren't fringe guys about to be cut. In what world does a team start their bottom feeders? Even in a preseason game?

Daniel’s is starting rg. He won’t be the backup center. That will go to either herbig or someone not currently on the roster. Assuming green is given his walking papers.

He is?! He can move to center if needed but Herbig would be the first choice.

That would be a mistake. Continuity is huge on the offensive line. Changing two positions due to one injury would be a poor choice.

Well sometimes you have to adjust to injuries when they happen. Your not going to see a line not injured like last season.

    Paper or Plastic?!!
Green being blown around like a plastic bag in a windstorm and busted out like a paper bag with a soggy bottom

Flip the discussion on its head though, what would your take have been if it had been a terrible showing against grocery store guys?

Green is not a NFL Center. Green is not a NFL FB. Kendrick Green is a 6'4"-315LB man with high athleticism and runs a 4.8/40. You can't coach that into someone. He's a tweener that got drafted in the 3rd round with a goal in mind. That goal didn't/hasn't worked out. I would try him out everywhere and exhaust all roads before just giving up on him. He seems willing to try and wants to succeed. He may stick around only to play on ST? Stick him on FG block team? Give him the ball on GL plays? There are niches where he fits. I wouldn't cut a core player or 1st backup to keep him, but he has value.

I would be seriously concerned if he struggled and rightfully so. We’re hoping he is the next franchise qb. If he’s laying eggs against backups in year two we are in for a long season.

Rudolph has 2 more games to establish himself as the backup. No reason this should not happen.

Honestly, I couldn’t care less. Cut him and roll with Rudolph and the rookie.

The guy was a 2nd overall draft pick, and a 4year starter in the NFL.
