Is the jet sweeps play has too much hate?

Because the offense was bad as whole that means a particular play was bad as well?

 

no, means it means we, like the rams, didn’t know when and how to use that play.

Yeah, but how often do these jet sweeps obtain a 1st down? Seems like these plays almost always end up 1-3 yards short of the sticks. Punt. Rinse and repeat.

 

That's a solid point. Timing matters. 5.5 yards on 1st down is quite different than 5.5 on a 3rd and 10 when the defense is expecting a pass.
As others have said, my issue isn't with the play itself, just the timing of it sometimes.

I don't remember the jet sweep be called on 3rd down and long....Maybe in the second down and long but not on 3rd down

I was thinking the same thing, or at least it didn't happen that often, but I couldn't find proof.

It created 3rd and long and then they tried it again the next play.

 

I’d rather have the Steelers ranked higher in total offense than share the highest yards per attempt jet sweep with the bottom dwelling rams.

it’s not a bad play in of itself, but if your arguing it’s proof that Canada knew what he was doing, I think your very wrong there.

Here's a pretty good article about the subject. The guy who wrote it said he broke down the film of every jet sweep the Steelers ran last year. Also gave the results and the numbers. Pretty eye-opening really. I myself might have had an incorrect perception of the play in general.
