I corks see watt being brought in. But Heyward can take it full time since we have 3 legit TE

Is this like "Ringing the Bell" when you realize that NFL training camp is just too hard? :)

... He has chosen other opportunities to get on with his life's work.

I am surprised he didn't give it a try, but when you see more talented players
in front of you can be pretty disheartening.

The bigger question is will this be the end of the mullet?

From what I read from certain Steelers writers, they said he had a really rough OTA and Mini-Camp, just like he was out of sorts, maybe he felt he just didn't have it to make it or, it just wasn't worth putting his body through it just in order to make it.
No harm in that, there are other things he can do with his college education.

Before too many people jump on the poor guy, even James Harrison himself thought of quitting because he couldn't grasp the defense on concepts and would literally quit on plays in practice and get mad, and tell coaches to take him out.
I guess he even told James Farrior he was going to quit and go be a truck driver just like his Dad was. Crazy to think, good thing he kept at it.

Pretty much opens the door for Connor Heyward to be a FB/TE/Hybrid role.

That or Derek Watt circles back around on a 1 year deal maybe, if he's been keeping himself in shape.

I'm just upset really that we didn't get to see him in a Back-on-Backer's drill at least once.

As much as they utilize a full back Heyward can handle the duties. No need to bring Watt back.

Nothing to be ashamed of. But he was like a JV player trying out for the varsity team knowing he is all he is already. He still can say that he was a Steeler for a short period of time and that is something worth the short time he invested.

I agree. I would have done anything to be good enough to be signed by an NFL team. I wasn't good enough, and that's ok. He probably figured out he wasn't good enough, and that's ok.

He is going to pursue the next phase of his life. He has a lifetime of memories from the sport, and knows he was better than 99% of people on the planet at the sport he played since he was a child.

I wish him all the best and lots of success in life.
