    They waited until there was 1 year left on his contract last time he got an extension. Same thing will happen this time around.

    It would help if he played dominant in a playoff game, Watt and Heyward each with one career playoff sack isn't good enough.

    I knew it, Tomlin is getting tired. 18 years is a long time to coach in the nfl let alone one team.

    I think this has a lot to do with him not wanting an extension and thinking of his next career move. Probably a mutually agreed upon arrangement.

    But what constitutes the injury bug excuse? Every team has injuries throughout the year I feel like that is just another excuse for the Tomlin boys to rally around. Now if you lose your starting QB for the year that’s a different story sure but all teams lose starters throughout a NFL season.

    i am a realist - i look at us vs 31 other teams, and then make a judgement. I am excited, as always, just tempered.

    some here just drink black and gold cool aid.

    I had one homer friend tell me Najee would be the league MVP - MVP! come on man, COME ON.

    another comparing Pickett to Herbert, in light on his contract just signed.

    just silly fan optimism, that is all it is.

    Not all injuries are created equal. The sheer number matters as with the Ravens last season, team was decimated by injuries. The quality of player matters. Losing TJ is hard to overcome, they have not shown they can win without him. Highsmith can still perform at a high level but the problem then comes on whoever is playing opposite side of him, some ineffective bench player. Steelers defense is dependent on getting pressure on the QB.

    Look at what happened when they lost Shazier, defense fell apart because no one else could do what he does and thats a big ask to want the coaching staff to revamp your defense and how they attack an offense on the fly mid season like that.

    The teams that handle injuries the best are usually the ones with the deepest roster. That’s more on the GM than the coach.

    I agree with you but it feels like the MT clan is already brewing up excuses for this season with “injuries” when they damn well know every team has them.

    When assuming they will go back to the last year of Tomlins contract like his previous deal I want to hear Art II talk about the reason and give a solid vote of confidence. If silent it will speak volumes.

    I want to hear Art II come out and say they need to get into the playoffs and win one.

    I’ve been thinking about the we haven’t won a playoff game ithing. Look at the players we’ve lost since 2017. Whether injury,retirement, or shear stupidity we’ve lost a ton of talent. Shazier, tuitt, pouncey, Decastro,foster, brown, bell,Hargrave, Hilton, Bryant,Miller, juju…

    true but the next 2 seasons will be crucial for Tomlin...At some point we need to win some playoffs game.It would be a start....
