Yea, could have beens are nice to speculate, but Cam signed his deal 1 day after the start of FA. Have no idea what or if the Steelers had offered, but Cam quickly took what he thought was a better deal and opportunity. Would have loved to keep him, but you are not going to keep them all.

I don't want to be a hater on this but I am sure that one of the huge factor that Matt Canada is back for a another season was because he had one year left at this contract.I will be very hard on the steelers if Matt Canada is awful like he was for most of the time(The only time he was not awful it was in the second half of 2022,but he still need to improve especially for the passing route by the receivers)

They are not cheap for the players but I have some doubt about some other thing

I think the second half of the season helped them make that decision. The one year remaining could have been a determining factor as well, but given that the team had the youngest O, a rookie QB, a mostly new and young OL, and the improvements were noticeable made the decision easier. We have seen time and again where young QB's face changes, sometimes in multiple years and it stunts or even ruins the career. Bringing in Glenn Thomas can be taken any way one wants to interpret it, but I think it was to address the areas you mentioned.

Having Golden is great depth, having all 3 as Nick comes along is really a windfall for him. Have no idea how he works out as a pro, but really in a great place to not only learn, but to be used in hopefully effective ways.

I don't see them paying Robinson 17 million plus next year. They got him relatively cheap and his dead cap is 1.9 if they cut him. If he stays healthy and has a decent year likely an extension with respectable numbers or they cut him loose.

Steelers have never been cheap, They always pay right up to the cap limit.
Very rarely you will see a third contract from Steelers. They don't operate their business like that,

I just said maybe and to be clear I'm just talking in the last few years

Because, there must be a reason why the number of people in the coaching staff of the steelers is one of the smallest in the league... Maybe it's Tomlin who wants that too, I don't know

It could be expense, or just a traditional way of doing business. My numbers may be off, but in the 70's I remember articles talking about the Steelers having 7 on the coaching staff while others had 12-14. Noll himself coached the special teams because he loved being that closely involved. When I looked at some teams websites I am amazed at the number of positions. I get the game has evolved, but do the Browns really need a personal masseuse coordinator???

for years and maybe still Belichick coached to o-line while being the head coach. sometimes too many cooks ruin the stew.

As I said Noll loved coaching special teams until he was told to hire a coach, but there was also a timeline where is got in the trenches with the OL (might have been a strike year) where the glow on his face was evident (well, my words lol). He loved teaching the game from a foundational standpoint. You said something that is very true, 'too many cooks', some see it was ego but when you are good at something you do it. Andy Reid has an OC, but we know who sets the O.
