Even his own QB is moving on from DJ to Pickens:

“George can be a top guy in the league, no doubt,” Pickett said. “There’s probably three catches in practice that stick out to me that were better than ones he had that everyone saw on the season. His natural ability, his floor is so high just based on his natural ability and now we’ve put together a nice route package for him. He continues to work on his game and we work on our continuity together. I’m really excited to play with him going into year two.”

i believe it will serve kenny well to use all the tools in his arsenal. it doesn't have to be one guy when you have this many weapons at your disposal.

This in spades. It's too easy for a team in the playoffs to shut down one weapon.

    Wanna Bet?

All offseason last year DJ was practicing with Mitch and Mason. Now DJ and Kenny are going to get to spend the offseason playing catch and getting to know each other.

1,400 yards and 8 TDs for DJ in 2023.

In the field in my Army days Tang, Spam, and baked beans were essential to survival. My communications rig was like a camper, Some C rations were OK, but nothing better than a midnight spam snack, cooked in a pan set on the tailpipe of a 5 K generator.

One receiver may break out, but if KP sees the field and delivers I can see several guys having really productive seasons.

Depending on how far KFP progresses this season, I could actually see something close to this happen. I think DJ goes over 1,000 this year and gets back to being a 6-8 TD/yr guy like he was until last season.

DJ is a frustrating player for me because he possesses the talent to be a top 10 WR in the league, but he is too prone to making bad mistakes (mis-reading option routes, sporadic cases of mental lapses, and (his biggest flaw IMO) "pressing" or trying too hard to make things happen). He is a player that seemingly wants to be great, and when he is on the cusp I truly think he tries to make it happen as opposed to doing what got him there and letting the great play happen. This is why he has sporadic cases of bad drops despite having capable hands, and being inconsistent in bigger moments. If he played with a prime Brady, Manning, or Ben he would probably be a perennial 1,300-1,400 yard and 8-10 TD guy. He'd also be in danger of getting reamed by his QB's for missed reads and strange sequences of mistakes.

Overall, I like him immensely as a receiver for us and I do hope that he is a Steeler past his current contract (whether he takes the #1 role or not). His skill set is rare and valuable, and I think his shortcomings will be minimized with better QB play moving forward.

I hope he gets in the end zone within the first week or two of the season to get of the schneid. Once that happens, I think he relaxes a bit and gains some confidence.

Not sticking up for DJ, but plays have to be designed for players to run open
and QB to hit him in stride. Good article on cbs sports about why Sam Darnold picked SF.
Players run wide open per him. Why can't we see this with our offense?
