First round picks get guaranteed money second get some as a bonus

He may be arguing incorrectly that as the 32 pick he should be treated as a first round

In reality he is a second round

i truly hope he isn't arguing pick number and pay in contract negotiations

if so, i hope he runs out on the field during a scuffle like pops did when he was a coach.

His agent will push this

The Steelers will stick hard to the fact he is what he is a second round draft pick

He has no leverage he is a rookie not a FA

Plus what happens to the first guy picked in every other round who could claim the same

 

The Steelers won't budge. He's a second round pick and he will sign for that kind of money or he can sit out of training camp. It would be bad precedent to give him 1st round money and won't happen

He is a 2nd round pick. He cried heavy tears that he wasn't selected in the 1st. This was a concern for me when he was drafted. Now its a hold with the contract. Khan i believe will not back down. And shouldn't. Hopefully he is not a mental midget that will fold in the face of top notch competition in which he will be facing. This ain't college anymore.

 

I don't know if they track this somewhere, but I am going to be curious to see if Porter has more INTs to Pass Interference calls his rookie year.

The knock on Porter coming out of college was that he was a little too "Handsy".

anything after the first usually get slotted money anyway. a few bucks less than the guy ahead of you and a few bucks ahead of the guy behind you.

 

I saw that too and thought the same thing. He is butt-hurt not going in the first, but truly he should be extremely pleased with the situation he is in. Great organization and being mentored by Minkah and PP.

Between me and you, I doubt this will be an issue moving forward.

 

In either case, I would wager PIs as Grady Brown and Teryl Austin will still be coaching him up on the basics. While I do believe he will see the field a lot more than people believe, I also expect some growing pains along the way.

No....I believe it's because I'm worried about the whole thing. Although I have had a dream a few times I was the backup safety/ILB, and they only used Me to rush the Qb on occasions.

I don't see how a rookie can have more interceptions than pass interference penalties. It's hard to imagine, but wow if that were to occur. I just don't see it.
