Did the Steelers get a steal in the draft in Cory Trice?

I don't think it has to come down to one or the other. Peterson, wallace, Sullivan are not signed long term. Having to refill these spots down the road as we know is not a guarantee. Keeping young talent around should be a priority. I guess we could be in a win now and worry later mode but not really like the steelers. They could keep an extra db.

It's all about when IMO....not how many. Like I've said before the difference between good, and great is when You do it.

I tend to agree, but I'd like to see Trice play 1st.

I personally believe he will contribute a bit more than others believe health permitting. Mind you, there is a lot of new faces on the defense. While this increases the likelihood of miscommunication (doubly so early on) this also means that the team has more options to play with. Patrick Peterson though is the key as he has been very open towards moving around.

Now ideally, Chandon Sullivan is someone I would want to actually obtain more snaps in the slot than Patrick Peterson and doubly so out of the gate. However, should that not be the case, there is a way in which Trice Jr does see playing time in the form of having six DBs on the field. Sullivan would be the odd man out but having Trice as a sub package CB to start out his career is not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

The most extreme way (a way which I don't hope comes to pass) is Levi Wallace getting seriously injured. Now, that would press Joey Porter Jr into the starting lineup but Trice can get to the field as well should Teryl Austin elect to use Peterson more in the slot in addition to Trice winning the opportunity to be the third Outside CB.

I just have never seen Him play....even college ball(except for highlights). At least I've seen JPJr play college ball. I'm way excited, but I don't want to get My hopes up way too high. That is all.

In Defense of @S.T.D@S.T.D, very seldom do Rookie CBs live up to the hype. Last Season, Ahmad Gardner definitely did for the Jets; a welcome addition to both the Jets and the League as there are not too many marketable young CBs imo. Prior to him, Jalen Ramsey from 2016 was the last CB I could definitely label as a major impact Rookie Impact Player. Players like Surtain II, Denzel Ward and even AJ Terrell had solid games in their Rookie Years... but none like Ahmad or Jalen. Prior to both.... Patrick Peterson.

Now, regarding Joey Porter Jr?!.... Time will tell. I am a much bigger believer in him than I ever was with Artie Burns for JPJs support system is much better for him to succeed than Artie's was. Jr.s natural talent is also something that should warrant excitement as well. It all depends though on how quickly he can see the field and most importantly, how to be less grabby upon double moves and/or developing routes.
