    Dear butthole

    jk

Why would you want a number 3 RB rather then a potentially good DE

Potential good De is injury proned. You can utilize Cook as an additional pass catcher.

Both of them will be looking to start and get paid, and rightfully so. We are offering neither

I saw that, but nobody is talking about what the Steelers are sending back to Washington... I would assume that would be Highsmith and a mid-round pick.

For me I value Highsmith over Young as Highsmith has improved every year and is 100% healthy. Chase Young's recent injury history scares me a little.

There is a reason that Washington did not pick up Young's 5th year option.

I doubt Chase Young winds up a Steeler... it's a really, really, really long shot.
He is NOT injury prone, the injury he sustained was pretty bad and the surgery was extensive.
The timing did not help as it was the 9th game and that rehab lingered over.
    He looks 100% now.

So what I figure, if he has a comeback year, which it looks like he could, Washington will have trouble keeping that front four intact.
I highly doubt they trade him before the deadline; it's possible if some team makes a crazy offer.
When the season is over, that's where the money comes into play. If he has a big season, Young is going to cash in big time.

Again..... this is a really, really, really long shot. (sure it could be done but at what cost? Washington aint stupid)

I was told point blank, Washington wants Young to play this season.
They can then evaluate whether they will pay him and trade off someone else.
    * If he doesn't play well, he walks and they get nothing in return (bad side of the gamble)
    * If he plays like he should play, then they can trade off for example Sweat to relieve Cap pressure and pick up something in return for a trade (Sweat is just a name, I doubt that would be the case but they have 4 DL that anyone would trade a decent deal for)

I do remember Mike's comments... Young had a pretty good game.
IF the Steelers could somehow pull off a deal, it would be something to see. Young can play 3-4 as Washington uses that set fairly often.
I personally hope that Young returns to the form I saw as a rookie, he looked to have a great career ahead.

    Then there's 1 other option.
If the season starts and as the trade deadline approaches, and they have in their mind to move on and pick up some capital... maybe..

I wouldn't give up a third round pick for a guy who is going to be on the bench, 2020 was three years ago, the NFL is a what have you done for me lately league.

Why on Earth would it be Highsmith? That makes no sense. It certainly wouldn't be Highsmith and a draft pick.

I know Tomlin loves Young, but he's not a great fit and the injuries are a big red flag.

    Quite a bit of these recent articles don't. For that matter, as I have already outlined, the Steelers make little to no sense for Young for a multitude of reasons. The only teams I can recommend are the following;

1.) Chicago Bears: Never mind the money to pull it off, there is not a major pass rushing force on that side of the ball. Bringing in Young will definitely assist in that should he stay healthy.

2.) Seattle Seahawks: Darrell Taylor is not a household name but 2023 could put him on the map. Uchenna Nwosu is a decent EDGE but not someone I wouldn't consider a true running mate and is best served as the third option. Having Chase greatly increases Seattle's pass rush along with their tremendous secondary.

3.) Detroit Lions: Unlike the previous two, Aidan Hutchinson will take the next step towards being a very productive pass rusher come 2023 barring injury or other extreme factors. Beyond him? Charles Harris, Romeo Okwara and Josh Paschall are solid options... but not true threats. Chase Young can change that barring injury and the Lions could field one of the deepest EDGE rotations in all of football.

The Falcons and Texans are honorable mentions but these three are best suited for Chase Young. The Steelers have more concerns with ILB, Slot CB and SS currently; all in that order. Again, I would want Isaiah Simmons above all else but the value to trade him has to be worth trading for.

Because Young and Highsmith are in the same boat; At the end of their rookie contract looking for MEGA BUCKS in 2024. You can't have an OLB room of Watt, Highsmith and Young, so there is no way the Steelers can bring in Young without losing Highsmith.

There is a very good chance that Highsmith and Young will both be playing on the Franchise Tag next year for exactly the same price. I think Young could bring in the higher Comp pick if his team lets him walk away at the end of the year.

he is well below 30. If he was over 30, sure you can say that. where you getting he will be in the bench?

Furthermore a third is nothing. The chance of a third working out is less than a flip of the coin.

Just want to say those two have gone down hill with breaking news before others. I've been seeing people with less than a thousand followers Make some calls.

I've also seen those two make more of a broad stance of where a player will go.

Would not mind if we picked up another O-Lineman, preferably a good one.

Between me and you, Highsmith's deal is likely imminent if we are using Omar Kahn's guide as a reference. Mind you that Kahn is responsible for having both Minkah's and Cris' contracts done before Training Camp to prevent "Hold Ins" within the same vein that T.J. Watt had to go through back in 2021 with Kevin Colbert. I doubt that it such a dispute will head into Training Camp for Alex.

That all said, my thoughts about Chase Young exactly. If anything, I am also in agreement with @BigBensBigBong@BigBensBigBong though whom that Offensive Lineman would be remains a major question mark. Only ones I can think of are through trade and there are not a lot of options currently that I can think of at present.

I don't see it worth it or really even possible. The 5th year option for Chase Young is 17.5 million.

So I think this is all about getting people talking and viewing their article in an otherwise boring part of the year

Fun to think about, but that's about as far as this one will go. Highsmith is a quality player they need to focus on getting him extended imo. Homegrown talent.
