Just saw a piece from steelersnow.com (I think) saying we are front runners for Chase Young. My apologies if this has already been covered. I may have nodded off during that class. I AM tapping on the door of 60...so cut me a lil extra slack. I tried to link the article, but no go.

I've seen several speculating on the topic as well as Cook but it may be fodder for wish fulfillment and nothing more.

Hmmm. You read the piece? I feel like you might be pimping that website because the article clearly states "expect this one not to happen". Nowhere does it say we are the frontrunners and it says the betting odds have us as the 7th likeliest team to land him.

I just googled his name and a similar blurb came up with 6 teams, so I guess they cut us out, lol. If he was made available the cost in picks might be huge, plus unlike Minkah you are only getting him for 2 years (unless you tag him). You cannot say do not look, the talent is that high, but if they sign Alex how much more can you put into D??

I think it’s only one year. I’m pretty sure Washington declined his fifth year option

The problem with being the youngest is while pushing 60 (plus) you see your brothers push 70. Morons never get anything right, lol.

As much as I would love to see that three headed monster, I severely doubt that will happen. For one, Chase needs his fifth year option picked up. For two, even what he is scheduled to earn alone for this season is a bit rich for a third EDGE. Most of all though, for three?

Never mind the draft capital to get him. Chase will also need a contract extension. Alex Highsmith also needs a contract extension as well. Between the two, Highsmith has vastly outplayed his draft slot. I still believe in Chase Young personally but the injury bug has gotten him real bad.

If anything, I would want Isaiah Simmons from the Arizona Cardinals. While that deal is also difficult to project, the greater need for a Linebacker in addition to a more manageable cap hit is a better pill to digest.

Virtually no chance of this happening. They will probably extend Alex Highsmith and they brought in Golden for depth. They won’t give up valuable draft capital for another edge rusher

Who would you rather have?? Chase Young or Isaiah Simmons ...we still have a huge hole at ILB & we just got OLB Golden ...resigning OLB Highsmith mean Young would be a 1-year rental ...ILB Simmons would make more sense because he's more flexible than Young & could possibly return after 1 year

I don't get the Chase Young hype, he has 1.5 sacks since 2021 injuries have played a part, people are just assuming he will return to his rookie form .

I was browsing YT yesterday and Deke's vid came up. he is saying 'inside' sources are confirming that they are hot for Chase. I personally am not excited one way or another, he is a 4/3 guy, who no doubt could be used, but has a 5 million Cap hit (doable, and would be a one year rental. If they get him and he balls out how does he fit long term and can they afford him? If it was a Robinson type of trade, trading picks, like our 4th for their 5th and they pick up part of the salary, go for it.

How is it that we were talking about Young and yet the topic turned to Old? Admit it. We're all ageless wonders. :drinks:

2020 he was defensive rookie of the year. He lead all the rookies in several stats for 2020. And he went to the pro bowl. He was the third DE to do since 2002 to make the pro bowl.

    His knee injuries suck.

    Washington needs to unload players.

Therefore i don't see his trade being that much. I honestly think Washington would take a 3rd for him.

And that to me is a great deal to try out a player again to see if he can hit those numbers in 2020 again or succeed or if he's a dud.

I personally would rather have Dalvin Cook… but everyone has an opinion like everyone has a butthole
