Well obviously he’s after Bradshaw so your list is flawed

And He’s dropping down the list behind Mahomes quickly

I would not put Bradshaw ahead of Ben. The first two Super Bowls we rode the run game and the defense. Bradshaw never had the statistics Ben had and he played on better teams than Ben did. I know they played in different era’s and Ben didn’t do much in the first Super Bowl but he payed awesome in the playoffs to get us to the Super Bowl that year. Bradshaw was benched in season his first Super Bowl season. Yes Mahomes will be passing a lot of guys on that list.He just needs some longevity.

I would switch Elway with Unitas. Then switch Marino with Unitas. Mahomes has to be on the list.

Some don't remember it that way. That's why I laughed at the video earlier.....it didn't matter that Bradshaw missed the Wrs by a mile, and almost killed him....some automatically skipped that, and said.....what a arm. LoL while I Love Bradshaw... Hell He was My 1st jersey I owned....Hes why I wanted to play Qb before I understood Defense, and the greatness of Mel Blount....... I just don't have this pretended mystical remembrance of Him.

Marina was great the only reason I had him lower was because he didn’t win a SB. As great as Mahomes is I feel like he needs more games even if he never wins another SB he should probably still be on the list. It was just a volume thing with me.

Elway, Rodgers, Farve and Bradshaw are inferior to Big Ben? Fair enough to the OP. Not my personal Top 10 All Time QB list but there are arguments for Big Ben being in the Top 15.

Top 10 though?! Man..... that is EXTRMELY tough for me to place him in.

Ben has Bradshaw beat on nearly all of the stats. He has Elway beat on stats but I can see how people would question that one. Favre was a gunslinger but how many championships did he win and I believe Ben has him beat on most of the stats as well. Rodgers is certainly a more accurate QB but his League MVP thing is a little rich for me. He has won one SB and outside of that how many playoff games did he lose with elite or near elite teams. To me Rodgers has a little bit of the Brees element to him. He is loved by the media and Pundits and he always gets propped up by that. The other one they do that too ad naseum is Dad Prescott. The guy has accomplished medocrity and everyone wants to say he is one the better QB’s in todays game. Ben was basically Favre but only bigger and better. His stats and SB’s bear that out.

These lists are very difficult to put together because of the different eras that they played in. When I was a kid it was almost universal that the best QB of all time was Otto Graham with Starr and Unitas still not finished with their careers. As far as Big Ben goes, I'm not sure who is ahead of him or behind him but I think he is probably in the top 12 of all time.

    Hmm...

I understand your points overall. However, when it comes to any position, QB included, individual accolades carry a bit more weight as a whole.

For example, Mel Blount is not just remembered for merely winning four rings in six seasons. Mel Blount is remembered for not only being the first ever CB ever named Defensive Player of the Year but also revolutionizing the NFL forever more. Both reasons are crucial in terms of appreciating Mel Blounts legacy. The rings assist for certain but there are other Corners who are also highly ranked all time who have fewer rings than Mel himself but have similar accomplishments, Rod Woodson, Charles Woodson, Deion Sanders and Night Train Lane... to name a few.

Quarterback should be different as without the one at that position, winning a ring is next to impossible. That said though, what a QB can accomplish in addition to the rings he has won sets those apart from others. For example, Aaron Rodgers may have only one Ring but 4 MVP Awards is nothing go scoff at as only Peyton Manning has more. Like him or not, his accomplishments cannot be faulted.

Regarding MVPs, Farve, Elway and even Bradshaw one up Big Ben in that regard. Numbers disparity or not, all three have something Big Ben could never have. Drew Brees should be tough but the fact that he owns nearly every passing record in addition to his own ring should account for his side. Furthermore, Drew Brees is also something Big Ben sadly wasn't; a five time All Pro along with being a two time NFL Offensive Player of the Year. There is a major argument to be had there overall.

For me personally, Big Ben is looking outside of the Top 10. There are simply too many QBs alone in the Top 10 that have Big Ben beat in either rings or have him beat either by normal means or soundly with other major NFL Accolades. As @jeh1856@jeh1856 alluded to, don't be surprised if Patrick Mahomes someday tops the list. Mahomes has already done so much in so little time and is light years ahead of Big Ben in terms of achievements at their respective ages.

In short?! Rings only count for so much. A players dominance is what sets them apart from others.

    Bradshaw 2 X SB MVP

    Ben zero

    Bradshaw NFL MVP

    Ben zero

I hope that clears up any confusion

Unless Mahomes dresses in black and gold I don't want him to pass anybody on the list. Now if Kenny wants to try to make it I'm all in.;)

Actually it's impossible to use stats to compare. The NFL is constantly changing as is all sports. Whole different sports world from 50 years ago. One example of many is MLB. Coaches used to have to worry about when to take a pitcher out or let him hit, etc. Now the DH has changed the face of what was once a very important part of the games strategy.

When it comes to pure talent, top 5. On accomplishments alone top 10 to 12 in that range.

See above....exactly what I'm talking about. :goofy:
Bradshaw with 11 HOF players on His team.
Ben with 2, and He only played one year with one, and 2 years with another.
Ben went to 3 SBs with 2 head coaches. Bradshaw with one. Bradshaw was benched....Ben wasn't. In the time Ben was taking a team to the SB ...Bradshaw was just trying not to throw more ints then Tds...., and not get benched again. LoL
I could go on, but Bradshaw could tell You this, and You still wouldn't listen.....
    Hope that clears it up.

You can go look at stats of the time, and compare. Hell Bradshaw wasn't in the top 10 of any Qb stats during His 1st 5 years except ints. Hell He had more ints in a year than some Qbs had tds. People will say a different time....Well how did He have 9 tds, and other Qbs playing had 24????
Lot of people are miss remembering Him. I Loved the Guy, and He got great, but He would have lost His job today.....because it took Him almost 7 years just to throw more tds than ints.

I hate the direction MLB went. I never liked inter league play, def dont like the DH. On the other hand i really like the time clock, no more constant 4 hr games!

Im gonna have to go with @S.T.D@S.T.D on this one. I grew up with Bradshaw, one helluva qb for sure, but I honestly think Big Ben is ahead of him. Not by much though, both are hall of famers and enjoyed watching both play.

This is not even a question. Bradshaw played his best in the biggest games, period. First 2 Super Bowls my ass not only did Bradshaw have one of top 5 arms of all time he was a great physical runner. Throw in he had a coach who demanded that the running game and defense took precedent.

I love Big Ben but he was not on Bradshaw’s level. If he would have beat GB and had another SB last minute drive he would be in, but that loss moved him from 1st to 2nd tier. For me there is Top 5 and everyone else: Brady, Montana, Bradshaw, Unitas and Aikman. Then everyone else, Big Ben is in the top range of 2nd tier.

Other QBs above him do have NFL Records as well. Hell, Aaron Rodgers still has the highest TD to INT Ratio in the 100+ year history of the NFL if memory serves correctly. Some of Dan Marinos records still stand to this day.

As I stated also, Drew Brees has just about every single one imaginable. Furthermore, I had already included such in the statement above regarding accomplishments. NFL Records though, by themselves, are only a fraction of accolades a player can have onto themselves.

All Pros, OPOY/DPOY and MVPs must also be factored in.

    All time Passing yards:
    1. Drew Brees 80,358 played 1 more yr than Ben
    2. Brett Favre 71,838 played 2 more years than Ben
    3. Ben Roethlisberger 64,088
    4. Aaron Rodgers 59,055 Played less games than Ben because he sat at first.

    TD’s
    1. Drew Brees 571
    2. Brett Favre 508
    3. Aaron Rodgers 475
    4. Ben Roethlisberger 418 (Ben was a product of his system early on ion a ball control offense)

    Passer Rating
    1. Aaron Rodgers 103.6 (This is where Rodgers shines)
    2. Drew Brees 98.7
    3. Ben Roethlisberger 93.5
    4. Brett Favre 86 (had 46 other QB’s all time ahead of him) This is where I really downgrade Favre.

    Pass Attempts
    1. Drew Brees 10,551 (Both Brees and Favre padding stats thats the way I look at this)
    2. Brett Favre 10,169
    3. Ben Roethlisberger 8,443
    4. Aaron Rodgers 7,660

    Pass Comp. %
    1. Drew Brees 67.7% (Insanely accurate but all his passes were slants and crossing routes)
    2. Aaron Rodgers 65.3%
    3. Ben Roethlisberger 64.4% (less than % separate him and Rodgers)
    4. Brett Favre 62% (44th on the list - Gunslinger)

    Fourth Quarter Comebacks
    1. Ben Roethlisberger 41 (3rd all time. This is what made him great and a big reason why I placed him over the other Players)
    2. Drew Brees 36
    3. Brett Favre 28
    4. Aaron Rodgers 21

    W/L
    1. Brett Favre 199/123
    2. Drew Brees 181/123
    2. Ben Roethlisber 166/82/1
    3. Aaron Rodgers 158/85/1

    All Time Win %
    1. Ben Roethlisberger 669%
    2. Aaron Rodgers 654%
    3. Brett Favre 623%
    4. Drew Brees 599%

    All Time Postseason
    1. Ben Roethlisberger 13/10 565%
    2. Brett Favre 13/11 542%
    3. Aaron Rodgers 11/10 524%
    4. Drew Brees 9/9 500%

    Super Bowls
    1. Ben Roethlisberger 2/1
    2. Brett Favre 1/1
    3. Aaron Rodgers 1/0
    4. Drew Brees 1/0

When you stack them up like this you realize they were different types of QB’s in different systems.
Brees and Rodgers are more efficient and accurate passers and Ben and Favre were more gunslingers.
It all depends on what kind of QB you prefer. The most meaning fun stats to me are the winning %, 4th Q comebacks and the SB wins.
I just feel like Brees especially had a system around him with that coaching that really fit him and he threw for a lot of fluff yards so did Favre but in a Favre case it was his mentality to just air it out. If they would have given Ben free reigns he probably would have done the same. He tried. Looking at this you are right Rodgers probably should be ahead of Ben he is 4th on the comeback list probably because he didn’t need to produce a lot of comebacks. I would still keep Ben ahead of Brees and Favre. Their stats are inflated in a way that don’t equate to more wins which to means fluff stats. I always found it odd how Brees was at the top every year with the most passing yards per season but it never equated to them being the best team, almost like the passing record was a source of pride for New Orleans at the expense of wins.
