Strength and conditioning coaches are the real problem.

Damn you and your logic;) Here I am jumping for joy that we scored and even more happy we ate 8-9 minutes off the clock doing it. It would keep the games closer. I never looked at it like that.

I laugh when we score 7 right off the bat and instead of getting excited some guys will say things like still way to early. Just can't win;)

Why? The starters on the O-Line last year did not miss a single game.

Dotson and Moore were a real problem, they gave up a combined 11 sacks IIRC, and they committed more penalties than the other OL on the team.

not necessarily. when they get the ball and we 3 and out them with our rested defense they will punt. boom we start another long drive and end in another 7. rinse and repeat. they go down a couple of scores and their offense starts to push since they aren't on the field enough and that will cause TO's. their defense should also be getting worn out by being on the field so long. i'm not sure how this is a bad thing. we are not really planning on trying to go into games and turn them into shootouts. as a matter of fact, we are trying to do the exact opposite. tire a defense out and big plays will come. play the game at our pace. mahomes and burrows and allen and jackson on the sidelines watching and not scoring. just where we want them.

combined they had 34 games. -11= 23. 23 games with no sacks. this is that fuzzy math. :smiley1:

moore gave up at least two in the first game against the Bengal's. the line improved as the year went on. so he really only gave up 4 sacks in the next 16 games. playing the other teams best pass rusher, that ain't too bad. perspective people. he's in his second year with a rookie qb. dotson had penalty troubles.

The Steelers didn't make their schedule, last I checked those teams they beat are still NFL teams, and a win is a win .

I understand that. The point was not all teams are equal. For example some teams suck and some teams are good.

That 1984 team never had a shot in the AFC Championship game. That was peak Marino against a very weak secondary.

Brister had one real shot at a run with the Steelers in 1989. He was solid in two playoff games, an overtime victory in Houston and a one-point loss to the Broncos in Denver. The latter featured a few shaky calls that went Denver's way and a killer drop by scrub backup Mark Stock late in the game. That Broncos team made it to the Super Bowl.

One of those games they were able to control the clock and win it with a clutch drive late was against a very good Ravens team. It wasn't all against the dregs of the league. Hell, one of the losses was to the Bengals. The Steelers actually led that one at halftime, but the defense just couldn't stop Burrow that day.

I was at that game in 84. That was Marino's rookie year. We were winning that game with about 4 minutes before half.

It was Lambert last game. I was yelling at him to get in the game late. He was pacing like a caged animal, not being able to play with that turf toe. He looked up at me and went to the bench, grabbed his helmet and put himself in that game. That look up at me is a look I will never forget. My seats were 7 rows up behind the Steelers bench. I was surrounded by all fins fans. I went to every home game of Miami with that group all year. Watching Dan that year was fun, but I told them the black and gold is in town now so that rooting for the fish ended there. Fun year though.

I go into the season expecting playoffs, however, with the Chiefs and Bills out there feel Super Bowl near impossible.

Would need season ending injuries for Mahomes and Allen and maybe we get by Bungles.

Unless there is a turnover in the special team or an onside kick recover, the teams always have the same number of drives in each game, so if the defense can't stop their offenses when they are on the field, what the offense will do will mean nothing

Just watching the last super bowl.....the eagles offense were on the field for over 35 minutes, but the eagles defense couldn't contain the chiefs offense, especially in the 2nd half.....the defense has a responsibility, so you can't handcuff your offense because of the other offense. This is the worst thing to do

The steelers-bills last year is a another exemple....The steelers had the ball for over 36 minutes but the Bills had 38 points and over 500 offensive yards in that game(score final,steelers:3 Bills:38).Big play matter more that the time of possession who is for many by far the most overrated stats in football

that's why we pay our defense and a guy that was DPOY and a defense that led the league in turnovers. keep trying but you are not going to convince me that keeping these high powered offenses on the sidelines is a bad thing. long drives and ball control is a good thing.
