Just to be clear here the QB room consists of 2nd yr player and presumed starter KFP, the guy who lost his job to KFP and said he might have made a mistake signing with the Steelers and the guy who was drafted by the team wasn't able to ever solidify his job and said he was leaving town only to comeback and sign a 1 year deal. I'm not sure good is the adjective I'd use to describe how you feel about the room. Awkward seems more appropriate way to describe it.

Mason still has a chance in camp however, he did well last year and Mitch still was 2nd. I think this is Mason’s last year in the nfl. Needs to invest his cash

Looks like Trubisky is content with being a backup QB. Some heads are going to explode around here.

No no no it's all a clever ruse to lower his cap hit and make him more attractive on the trade market. Lipstick on a pig baby!

Two days on a thread with arguing about a 3rd string QB, now another great debate! Let me get my hemorrhoid cushion, my ass is still hurting from that last thread.

I'm just glad they didn't draft a QB in the 7th round... at least the "QB room" is a little bit more logical than last year at this time: only KFP and two proven sucks, instead of KFP and two proven sucks and a wasted 7th round pick.

We are one 7th round pick ahead!

Steelers love to overpay their backups don't they. Trubisky was the 2nd highest in the league last year and reports have his new deal at like 22 million for 3 years.
Mason Rudolph made 5.1 million last year dressing one game.
Edit. Its 19.4 million for 3 years. I hope Rudolph is making like 2 at the most for this season. And some felt sorry for Mason last season. Please. He made 5 million doing nothing.

Is $6.5 million overpaid for a No. 2 quarterback?

Remember, Trubisky wasn't signing to be a backup last year. They hadn't drafted Pickett yet and weren't sure they could get him, so they were looking at him as their starter for a year or two. Their wanting to cut his cap number for this year gave Trubisky some leverage. The Steelers' actions have made it clear they don't even want Rudolph to be their primary backup.

I assume Rudolph is making somewhere in the $2 million or less range. The market spoke and found him wanting.

He may turn into a very serviceable backup now that he's been broken. He was playing for himself last year trying to get that next contract somewhere. Maybe now he'll focus on winning games when call upon.

Yes its good that Mitch's cap hit for this season goes down about 4 million , just would have been happier with his cap hit at like 5 million. What eves. Whats another 1.5 .

having these backup QBs ain't gonna help win a SB... but they can help with making sure Tomlin doesn't have a losing season - which is the ultimate objective of the team - so that justifies the crazy pay
