Offseason Moves/Free agent signings

we need bodies for preseason. the return position isn't a done deal and if it is we won't want our new returner injured in preseason. it's always good to see these guys incase of injury down the line too.

 

They take something like 90 bodies to camp

they will see what he brings but the 3rd and 4th quarters of preseason games will need players on the field. if they show something they may get a PS job or higher if they really show but those are few and far between. starters and backups on both sides of the ball account for 44 players, add 3 specialists takes it to 47 plus one or two depth guys. so over half of that 90 are pretty guaranteed. practice squad and speed dial guys will be gone through to see where they fall. so yes tackling dummy, but only if they can beat out those mechanical ones they had in here a few years back.

We got Sherman's LP live recording from a Hollywood party at a yard sale when I was just a kid...Camp Granada was before this but the guy was hilarious.

 

The team used to have, lots of others.

 

IDK of they have signed a 4th qb yet, but all that kid has to do is hand off, throw decent enough against other scrubs and he either makes the team or at least lans on the PS. You can make almost 200 hundred grand on the PS..not a bad gig.

 

Not sure kids today appreciate what summer camp is. Now it's day camp.

 

Andy and Omar have been using the buzzword competition like they get an end of the day bonus for using it. They want competition to sharpen these young men and they aren't shy about providing it.

How do we feel about Kwon Alexander?

 

Solid addition if added. Dude can bring the lumber for certain. I remember when he came out, I had him as a Top 50 player. The fact that the Bucs got him in the fourth was crazy to me at the time. Now, he has bounced around the league though he has had success; a Pro Bowl nod to his credit though that was in 2017.


Overall, he likely will be the backup MACK Linebacker for he is a bit better in coverage than others give him credit for. Granted, he is no Fred Warner (though very few if any are) but he is good enough for the job.

Does Trubisky get released if Rudolph is coming back?

 

I guess it's possible, but they clearly think Trubisky is the better player.

This has to be humbling for Rudolph, who made it very clear he did not want to return.

 

Imagine taking a paycut with the team you wanted to leave, because no other team would even offer you that. lol

 

I would rather have Mason as #3 QB, than some rookie like Tanner Morgan.

 

90 people at camp. 53 man roster. 16 man practice squad. so 69 out of 90. Two or three guys will go on injured reserve during the preseason. Who wouldn't take that chance, knowing it means a minimum of $207k a year? How much does bagging groceries pay?

Alexander played for the New York Jets last season. He posted 69 combined tackles, including 6 for loss, 2 quarterback hits, 1 pass defense, 1 forced fumble and 0.5 sacks in 17 games, including 12 starts.
