I like the player but I just don’t see where he fits with his size.

He's not a small guy. listed at 6'4" the only issue supposedly is his arm length at OLB.

Shouldn't hurt Him. If He has a real motor, and a real desire for getting better.

Two different people, Two different everything. I just have to wait, and see. Hell I was excited about T. Edmunds until I watched Him play, and by year 3 realized He wasn't going to get better. I really am trying not to get way excited about anyone yet.

Most reports I’ve read have called him kind of a tweeter with a great high motor. And yes, shorter arms.

Someone posted a cool little clip of he and TJ working on some technique at a camp. He was noticeably smaller than TJ, who never looks outsized against the guys he’s going up against in an abnormal way. To me at least.

Maybe his other attributes make it a non factor. But I think it’s why he’s been talked about moving to ILB. Not his height so much as his weight. He’s just a slightly smaller human the most edge guys in the NFL.

Again, these are reports I’ve read.

James Harrison was 6 ft even/ 240 lbs. He did ok.

Don't discount him playing off-ball as well. I know what they said the plan is, but plans change all the time.

Yeah I couldn't find anything on Harrison's arm length either. He really benefitted by his height bein a little shorter and being able to bend as much as he did with power! I'm guessing that even if he had shorter arm length, it didn't mater as guys had to reach to grab him and he was just so strong to knock them away or just went right through it with leverage and power.

They got to at least try him out there at OLB.

He needs to get stronger, but I don’t buy his height and arm length automatically makes him a failure.

If he doesn't work at OLB, they can move him to ILB instead.

Am I excited? Not nearly as much as some of our picks. Am I going to write him off because of a news article I read? Let's give him a chance.

I mean, that sounds like an easy thing to do, but I think it far less successful than it is. I never played at a high level beyond pee wee, but switching in between those two things is supposedly pretty tough. And I’ve read that he’s not a perfect fit there too. Defensively he’s a lot like Connor Heyward on offense.

Hey, James Harrison was supposedly too short or not ideal enough for the position too and he certainly found a way, right?

Maybe he gets in the gym and becomes a ray and really bulls up.

He'll fall somewhere between Chase Winovich and Jerome Baker.

He's also gonna be learning from the best OLB in the league too.

That's what I'm thinking. Instead of switching him right away, try him out with where he's been working add TJ into the mix working with him and rotate him in for reps and getting used to the NFL. If he doesn't work out, at least he's been working in the defense and you can work on position transition without worrying about him being totally lost in the middle.

Kid's a player. They don't have measurables for that but there's lots of dog in him. He's not that small and he'll add weight/strength. I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people.

I hope, but as I said before. There is not a one draft pick I can say will be great until I see them play in the NFL, and that goes for all the teams in the NFLs picks.

    Good read...

How Steelers' Assistant GM Andy Weidl Found Keeanu Benton and Nick Herbig

The Pittsburgh Steelers landed two Wisconsin products during the 2023 NFL Draft, but how they put them on their radar isn't your typical prospect story.

The addition of Andy Weidl as assistant general manager has paid dividends for the Steelers. So far, he's helped them lock up two former Philadelphia Eagles offensive linemen, put an emphasis on the trenches for both sides of the ball, and even put their eyes onto two of their seven draft picks.

When Weidl first watched Steelers' second-round pick Keeanu Benton and fourth-round pick Nick Herbig, it was during their matchup with Ohio State. It was an opportunity for Pittsburgh's assistant GM to get a look at a few defensive products out of a school the team likes to draft from, against NFL-caliber talent.

Unfortunately, it was as brutal of a game as they come for the Badgers.

    rest of story...

    • More than 26 percent of his career tackles resulted in lost yardage.
That is better than 1 in every 4 tackles is behind the line of scrimmage for negative yards.

I would love to know how this compares to other linebackers.

If you are wondering TJ Watt came in at 25% 70 Total with 17 for a loss.
