That would be awesome. If this guy ever realizes his potential this receiving group will be unstoppable.

He had a good season for the XFL so maybe he has put all that stuff behind him and ready to ball out.

That's kind of what my buddy was thinking. He watched him his whole collegiate career and said the guy was basically unstoppable.

There were definitely a few folks here who wanted him in 2019, including me. Can't say I was right in wanting him over Johnson, but I can understand why I saw it that way at the time. I found plenty of company in these threads from that year.

Edit: I just added the draft day thread. Blast, he was even one of the guys you said you wanted right before they took Johnson. The reactions to taking Johnson were not kind. Interestingly enough, there was even talk of his high draft rate in college on the draft thread. (That's the last link).

He's 6'6" and weighs 230 lbs. I don't how fast he ran the forty but in his XFL highlights I didn't see anyone catching him from behind.

Right. Basically it's just throw the ball in his area and he'll catch it. All the talent in the world if he can get out of his own head.

Yeah, I didn’t know who Johnson was until we drafted him. Definitely wanted Butler.

After watching what I could on Johnson I obviously liked the pick, I know you and I had our fair share of debates over him :lolol:

    That we did. lol

I think he landed somewhere between your opinion and mine, but closer to yours. As a player, he's not even in the realm of Antonio Brown, but he is a very good player.

They signed a FB as a UDFA, so I don't see Derek coming back, why would you want Marcus Allen back he's a tweener who isn't good?

I HATED the DJ pick. Happy to eat crow. He’s no star, but he has been very solid value for his draft position.

I like Herbig at OLB, and so does the coaching staff. I think he can be a quality outside 3-4 LB for the Steelers.

Loved it when OLB Coach Martin shutdown the reporter asking if they were going to try him at ILB, and the coach just said "Right now he is a starting outside linebacker." and then later another reporter tried the ILB question again and Martin said "We are going to start him at outside linebacker and try to make a bigtime player out of him."
    WATCH: Martin on Herbig (steelers.com)

Boy he seems awful small to me? Can he set an edge? Can he get past a 330 pd linemen. I like my edge players bigger
    just my preference.

They will be packing him full of Primanti's right out of the gate :hehehe:

I can see him gaining 25 to 30 lbs with diet and nutrition.

I do feel they need to bring a vet in on a one year flyer as we saw with the position last season when Watt went down there was zero answer.

I was on one site and the chats were just raving. But let's be honest, he did not (yet) make the cut, and XFL is hardly a notch above good college competition. That said, besides special team abilities the 6th WR spot is definitely open for competition, even the 5 spot. Sometimes teams miss, other times a player just needs that time to mature and adjust.

I watched a bit of the Pittsburgh XFL team a week or so ago. Man it was tough to watch.

People have often had fun (or silly) questions if a National Champion team could beat some lowly NFL team like the Lions and Browns and Texans have been at times over the years. But I really thought that when watching the XFL game. Some weak play on both sides for sure.

Harrison was a monster. Hell, he is still incredibly strong. Herbig may be a little taller, but he is nowhere near as stout as Harrison.

I mean weight and anchor more than height.

Harrison’s shorter stature might have actually helped him with his strength to get lower leverage against towering tackles. It made sense when that was a hypothesis and then I think coaches verified it too.

Exactly. He was incredibly strong and had tremendous technique. The guy was an absolute monster against the run. Herbig is a good pass rusher right now, but I think he will be a liability against the run. He may blow up the occasional play in the backfield, but he is going to get pushed around.

Martin in the video says he is good with Herbig's weight at 240lbs.

Herbig was 6' 2" and 240 lbs at the NFL combine.

Highsmith is currently listed by PFF as 6' 4" and 242 lbs

I don't know where PFF gets their info, but Highsmith at the NFL Combine was 6' 3" and 248lbs

This, and about real want. Actually with proper technique a smaller man should be able to get around a larger man more easily. This is not a fighting match.....the problem with size will come in with setting the edge in a run play. JMO

That's exactly it. He can't always rely on slipping past defenders in run defense. He is going to have to take blockers on and that is where the relative lack of bulk and strength will hurt.
