I’m not much of a fisherman but I like being outside

Years ago so work friends invited me to go fishing on Kentucky Lake

When I got there it was cold windy and raging so I thought good we don’t have to go

That thought never crossed the minds of the guys who invited me so off we went

As an owner of the dreaded black rifle I’ll be the first to admit they’re pretty freaking pointless. Fun to shoot, but a poor choice for hunting and self defense. You’re certainly going to lose going up against trained soldiers w/ full auto, tanks, artillery, planes, helicopters etc

about 6 years ago I qualified for the kayak bass fishing national championship. It was on Kentucky lake and Berkeley. First place was 40K so I took the week off. Got up there midday Monday and the weather was beautiful. Fished until dark, but really focused on learning a bit about this giant lake. The next few days the weather was okay, but definitely turning south. On day one of the tourney it was brutal. Temps had dropped to 31 and the wind was a sustained 25-30mph with gusts in the 40’s. I launched in one of the bays and paddled out into the main lake. That was a mistake. The wind and waves were bad in the bays, but on the main lake the waves were crashing over my kayak. Sketchy as all hell. I turned around, back into the bay and hunkered down behind the houseboats and skipped docks all day. I knew I wouldn’t win, but wouldn’t die either. Got limit that day and the early stages of frost bite in fingers and toes. Headed to Walmart and bought some waders and rubber gloves. Day two was just as bad with the addition of snow flurries, but my fingers and toes were dry and warm. Ended up with limit on day two as well. Finished in the top 100 out 400, but way out of the money. Good times!

I used to have one (but sold it) they are fun to shoot, but i prefer my 30/30 or shot guns... When hunting ..A shot gun is best for home defense and a hand gun is best for self defense

We used to sled on a picnic table. It was one of those ones with fiberglass or plastic top and seats with metal frames. Carry it to the top of the hill, flip it over, and load 6-8 people on. Big piles of fun

Reminds Me of the 1st time I seen kids get all geared up to ride a bike.
I was at a friends house, and His kid came out with....a helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads......I was like.....what is he going to play....He said He is going bike riding. I asked...doing tricks, and stuff....He answered....No....just bike riding. LoL. Crazy :shrug:world now.

I had a younger friend that would rant on social media daily about the tide pod challenge. I couldn’t help but think you’re the generation that raised kids that eat tide pods

My brother "borrowed" a hood from a Chevy Luv pick-up. We could get about 8 of us on it. I have a scar on the inside of my right wrist where I tried to fight a tree on a sled. Tree won; I got stitches. Dad asked why I didn't come in right away. "Well, it wasn't bleeding that bad". Just shook his head, got dressed and took me to the ER. I personally watched one of my best friends getting stitches from his dad in his left arm. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, lol. We had a blast growing up. We have the scars to prove it.

My brother and another neighborhood idiot once rode a plastic swimming pool down our local creek all the way the Allegheny River. My mom beat the hell out of him, lol. They did make great improvised toboggans.

Bass are still feeding in temps that cold? Too bad you couldn’t turn in trout as a swap.

At least you didn’t add in led on your fish or extra fillets like those other guys!

Definitely. They’re usually deeper and aren’t as aggressive, but they definitely eat. Around here december and January can be epic. Slow way down, smaller presentations
