Right? Cool when it works but I would rather not see him do it.

I think but not positive that Tomlin told Harris to stop doing that. Or not as much anyway.

Impressive athleticsism from Washington but just going to get hurt.

The only reason Washington would be primarily a blocking TE will be based on Canada not knowing how to put him in the passing game. He's a physical freak who can run and catch like a WR. When Picketts throws an alley oop in the end zone, how many times will Steelers get a PI against defenders trying to hold his arms to keep them and the banana fingered hands (I don't remember to said this about his hands in the draft thread) from going up?

Agree. When Washington is game, I'd like the defense to struggle with is he going to block or is he chipping and then going for pass.

Only problem with relying on a ground, and pound game is if You can't stop the passing game of the other team, they score fast, and take You out of Your game. Let's pray We did enough to stop that.

One thing I’ll predict he will be with a reasonable amount of certainty is this…he will be a red zone mismatch for most DBs in the NFL with his size, hands and athleticism. Whether or not he’ll evolve into a compete tight end in the NFL remains to be seen.

TBH a perfect season for him (in any year) would be 30-35 catches with about 6 or more being TD's. If he helps us run the ball in the red zone that will be awesome too, since that will directly lead to more points.

I'm not a fan of players trying to hurdle defenders, I hate when Najee does that crap.

Washington biggest contribution will probably be in the redzone, and as a blocker, I could see him catching 20-25 passes and 4-5 TDs.

Well, if defenders are trying to cut block low towards their knees, then it might be the best option for their body, and not even talking about extra yardage. Running at or near full speed without anywhere else to go but up might make sense.

The uptick in some players doing it is probably due to the helmet to helmet rules defensive guys are trying to avoid and now going low more often.

Soon the NFL might penalize them for low hits too. Sucks for defenders, but we might see less injuries and higher scoring games. Defensive tackle zones are going to narrow, so a premium will be on getting bigger bodied defensive guys with top notch body tackling capabilities. Hopefully Joey Porter Junior fits that mold.

    That was me.

Years ago when I was in college in Orlando Florida, I was out at a bar with a few friends. Penny Hardaway and Horace Grant (and Shaq) were on the Magic at that time and hanging out at the same bar. So, I went to say hey. When Horace Grant shook my normal sized hands it felt just like grabbing a bunch of bananas at the store. My hand felt like a child’s hand inside his grown man grip. I laughed out loud when that happened because it was the first thing that came to mind and then they fell out laughing too.

Those guys are so much bigger in person than you expect.

While I like where your head is at...Washington is not Gronk. I don't think he is going to be the type of TE that is going to be lining up as receiver the way Gronk or even Muth can. He is going to be huge in the run game and catching passes in the Redzone, that is for sure.

I said that in the pre-draft process if they got one of the top tackles, then draft Washington, who is going to stop their running game?

Regarding Darnell Washington, it depends on how he will be used. If he being used as an inline Tight End and running routes in the middle seams with some curl routes/short routes, he will be a headache to get on the ground. If the Offense elects to use him as a more complete Tight End a la Pat Freiermuth.. he will struggle.

In the running game?! Never mind DBs... even EDGE Players are not going to want to take him on; strength of that opposing EDGE being stopping the run or not!
