Yeah but Tomlin building a presence at that school is a good thing , no ? Seems pretty smart to me and using Pitt more would be wise. Tidewater, Va and MD were hotbeds when I was growing up.

Everyone in the 7th round and UDFA pool is a big dart throw. Kid has played all 5 positions on the line and Green is terrible. It's no big deal.

I get Tomlin's connection and yeah at the spot selected we can only hope he supplants Green on the practice squad where he belongs.

Just expressing my love for Maryland of everybody not named Davis or Diggs. Guess I should throw a bone to Chad Scott.

Kozora said someone would be complaining about the draft because we took a Maryland player at 250. Congratulations for being that guy.

Lmao his analysis is prophetic. I recall him also stating basically he new nothing about him except he's played all positions on the line.

So a warm body with the last 7th pick.

Maryland reunion on the practice squad with future xfl projection lol:cool:

Ok I'll stop making fun of Maryland now

To be fair, I predicted the board would lose it's mind if we took Deonte Banks in the first round, for exactly that reason.

This! Some are just never happy. I give this draft an A. I don't understand why Green is even on the roster. There is no turn around. The kid from Maryland like you stated played EVERY position on the O Line.

I can see Green being stuffed into the practice squad hiding the fact is was a major mistake of a pick.

Not quite. Let me fix it for you. All draft picks are dart throws. It doesn’t matter if a player was drafted first overall or mr irrelevant.

Why would using Pitt 'be wise"? Hotbeds of the past have nothing to do with drafting a pro athlete to a 90 roster, to trim down to 53. Sure your scouts and other personnel build relationships through the years, you might get tips and inside info, but you don't draft a guy to make your friends happy. The kid was drafted in the 7th round for a reason, you bring him into camp and he does his thing. If he is better than the other guy he makes it, if he is not quite ready but shows promise you might take the risk and keep him, or cut him and try to get him on the PS. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss.

Hotbeds in the past mean they were hotbeds in the past. There are still people mining gold in long forgotten streams that were once 'hotbeds', sometimes they find a gem, so scouts still seek out the talent where ever they find it, does not mean you need to set up a presence among skeletons.

The younger generations will never have the pleasure of playing dodgeball with jarts in their backyards.

Yeah the damn ones they make now with the rounded, weighted ends hit and bounce when they land. The good old jarts stuck when they landed, sometimes in the ground and sometimes in your buddies leg.

My son was complaining on Friday about his schools spirit day activities. They kinda stack the deck with 7th and 8th graders against the larger 6th grade. I told him in my day we played battle ball( version of dodgeball) with juniors and seniors vs sophomores but we used under inflated volleyball and we went shirtless vs the shirted sophomores. Needless to say we never lost a game. Kids these days don't know the struggle.

    Exactly

Like riding sleds downhill headfirst without a helmet or using an abandoned slaughterhouse as a playground

Heck I only lost two friends doing that and I think they would have eventually been culled out of the herd anyway

I’m amazed on pretty much a daily basis how soft people have become. I was supposed to fish in a kayak fishing tournament this morning. On Thursday the “leader” of the group wanted to postpone because of rain. I pointed out they were calling for 7 hundredths of an inch and it was 72 hours away so things would probably change. Friday morning is a new message concerning the wind. I had to ask if he only fished in perfect weather and pointed out the wind wasn’t supposed to get bad until a few hours after we were off the water. He went on this diatribe about someone with poor balance could flip and lose their gear and possibly their lives. We aren’t talking about fishing Kentucky lake where 35-45 mph winds can produce whitecaps. This is a neighborhood pond. Yesterday evening it was well the winds are going to be 13-17moh gusts with rain. It’s just not safe. We will postpone. Grow a pair, put on a rain coat, and go fishing
