I’ve talked to a lot of UGA people and he is described as an alcoholic. I mean drunk off his ass all the time. I am inclined to think he has an addiction.

 

What a great draft for the Browns. 2 guys about to eat their way out of the league and a QB who can't throw.

 

well in todays world you cant hide that, especially as a pro player. I remember years ago an Ark player being taken by the Jags. I believe he was a QB, but turned into a WR. The local sports shows were gushing about his talent and how he would surprise the world. Guy was a jerk. I dont say that lightly, addictions are no joke, but absolutely the guy was a jerk and was out of the league in no time.

 

But both QB's have guaranteed contracts! One is slightly larger than the other lol

 

That it worked made it the correct answer. The rest is just twisting and turning to avoid admitting to being wrong.

You got overly excited about a player. I get it. Even though I really wanted a safety or another cornerback in the fourth round, I'm happy they got that player, too. I'm even happier that they were smart and patient enough to get him at such a value. That's what the draft is, a series of calculated gambles that allow you to get maximum value. The Steelers seem to be doing that this year.

You have zero understanding of alcoholism. It isn't about smart or not. It isn't about being weak or not. It is an addiction.

I absolutely think it is better to avoid drafting players with any sort of addiction, but your take on the actual condition is not accurate.

 

I remember him. Matt Jones I believe. Incredible athlete and switched to WR/TE but could never move past his addictions. I just would not spend draft capital on someone with an addiction.
Stetson Bennett was in Texas preparing for the combine and was so drunk at 5-6am that he stumbled into the wrong house. And he isn’t 22, he is like 26.
That is someone with a problem. When all the friends are gone and you are drunk/high (not on weed I guarantee) and flying solo, you know its bad.

These are people i know who live in Athens. I live in Atlanta so there is a lot of cross over. Look, I could care less about the guy, but when a 25 year old comes on morning TV drunk after winning a natty, it raises an eyebrow. when he is always the drunkest person in the room in a college town it raises 2 eyebrows. And when a 26 year old is by himself at 5-6am, so drunk that he enters the wrong house, all while “training” for the combine, it raises concerns about alcoholism. All facts.

 

Yeah, he and J.K Dobbins. Troll is one thing. He wasn't even good at it.

 

And I’ve lived here for 3 decades. Again drunk isn’t exactly uncommon for a college student. But, you go ahead clutch your pearls and crucify someone you’ve never met and only heard rumors about. I can’t wait until the rumors start flowing about you

 

I am 1000% with this. Bet on the future. It’s like buying a next year 2nd or 3rd round pick with this years 7th pick. Worth it.
