Depends on what scheme a team runs. In a 4-3 base he is probably a better fit at ILB. In a 3-4/Nickle he will probably be OLB.

The base schemes are becoming a thing of the past. If the guy can make plays, they will find a place for him.

First thing I heard on the Herbig video, the leader of the defense. Then he showed just that. Likely a special teams guy for a while, but guys like this become team Captains in the roles they play.

I hear You, but don't go by 40 time only.....remember Ab ran an actual 4.57 at the combine. Lots of great players have run slow 40s.

Herbig as ILB? That doesn’t help us? We need a true 3-4 OLB who can set the edge.

Well if it eases your mind, Herbig is a free player. If Washington was Khan's guy near the end of the 3rd, he traded back to get him and netted a free Herbig.

If he works out, awesome! If not, no loss.

LMAO. But we have a 5 minute vid and a short stat sheet to make our assessment.

Right, plus there is football speed. If an instinctive player reads the play a half second before someone else who just runs real fast, that more than makes up the difference.

I believe he will put on some beef and work the Edge but also can get work as an ILBer.

    He's an OLB

    Draft Profile:

    Overview
A three-year starter as a 3-4 outside linebacker, Herbig is lacking in size and strength but possesses plenty of athleticism and potential. He can be a slippery rusher with subtle hands and a wicked inside move that leaves tackles in the mud. His lack of play strength limits his speed-to-power rush and his ability to stand his ground against tackles looking to widen him off the mark. He would benefit from a year in the weight room to get ready for NFL edge work, but he might have the instincts and athletic ability for consideration as an off-ball linebacker.

Again, we are talking about a 4th round pick here. He is not meant to start day 1. He has time to develop. Let's remember that he has TJ and Alex to learn from and he doesn't have to be the #1 pass rusher when in the game. He'll face a lot of 1 on 1.

Clayton Tune to the Cardinals. Mugsy Bogues has got to be nervous about that.

I was looking at Day 1 and 2 grades and it was like listening to Jon Gruden as a color analyst. Everyone was getting an A or A-

Nothing you are saying is fact no matter how many times you blather on about it. You don’t know it was their plan.

Their plan was obvious - to gain an extra pick with the trade and go BPA. They had no idea he’d be there 13 picks later. Go ahead and be a re-Visionist all you want, but Kahn didn’t execute a plan here other than the trade. IMO it just worked out well for the Steelers and Washington.

Going back to ancient history and a wildly different era with Stallworth and how so few teams scouted HBCU’s and smaller schools is not a great example. They were banking on Stallworths almost anonymity rather than his draft ranking.

Nobody in the NFL was right with AB and had little idea of how he was going to combine his skill assets and work ethic to such a level. Again, the Steelers were lucky with him until he went off the deep end. On a side note, only my brother would be able to back up my claim of AB after the draft. He was tipping his hat to me about Sanders, and I told him I was more excited about AB. Then the first time he touched the ball on the kickoff and took it to the house, I felt justified in my feelings and assessment.

I sense that you are holding back as much as I am here and I appreciate that.

That's more like it at 4.65 40. I still would've preferred Abdullah ILB. More impact.
Basically a smaller Jack Campbell for Lion's uneven front 7.

Browns take an athletic QB that can't pass accurately. He'll fit in good in Cleveland.
