But we get to see an increased call of Jet sweeps to the left side!! You have to look at the bright things in life!

What are you going to say if Omar doesn’t make another draft day trade for 5 years?

I understand your disappointment, it’s likely I won’t get my way either in the 2nd round.

I think scribe had an almost uncertainly correct response to your position here. If the Steelers stayed put at 17, then the Pats take Gonz at their natural 15 pick and The Jets then follow up with picking Jones, then we get neither and likely pick JPJ. Now we get at least one of our high values and still might get JPJ in the 2nd.

There is a thing called a “Hobson’s Choice” where either option is bad or not really an option at all. Here - choose this crap sandwich or this vomit sandwich.

This one is more like a very good sandwich that was dropped on the floor. If Jones works out well, then we picked in up before the 5 second rule was up.

    We good!!!

    :herewego!:

I’ll say it turns out he wasnt so aggressive.

I think we both know that is not going to be the case, though. He’ll probably trade again tonight.

He may or may not. It depends on how they value what’s available to them and what is offered. Unless someone blows them away with an offer I hope they stand pat.

And without doing so, we probably end up with Porter @ 17, and still no LT as the Jets were3 obviously taking him. Gotta give up to get. Everyone hates NE, but you don't cut your nose off to spite your face, and it was a deal that both sides benefitted from. The Pats were able to leverage a good spot in the draft, that's all there is to it. I hate NE with a passion, but youi have to look past that and see what's best for the team and this trade was just that.

I hope not. Steelers need to stay put at 32 and 49.

I'm really liking the team of Khan and Weidl. There is a buzz now. I have no ill will towards Colbert but their is a different feel.

Belicheat did himself a solid keeping him away from the Jets. They wanted Jones. My surprise is they only wanted a 4th rounder!

This happened due to Sean Davis being injured and going on IR for the season in week 3. Not that i'm complaining but that was the reason.

Depends what the offer is. Im sure he isn’t giving 32 away. Lot of teams are interested, might be able to get a sweet return.

They could also keep 32 if they dont like the offers and shop 49.

Dotson is still a trade piece, too.

I don’t think Khan is going from round 4 to 7 with no picks. Not from what i have seen of him so far.

I think they're probably in a pickle. God, I love pickles. Especially pickle juice! My goodness...

Nevermind, I'm sure it probably never crossed their minds that JPJ and Branch would be available at #32. I would bet that they were 80% set that they were gonna move the pick, but who would've thought? I would love to be a fly on the wall on South Water St. right now.

One draft isn't proof. What I said is that it wasn't new. Maybe it was new for you?

Teams generally picked and choose their spots. No one knows how many times the Steelers attempted to make moves in the draft. What we know is that Colbert was willing to make calculated decisions.

Every team in the league generally lets the draft come to them. After all, teams need to have a reasonable and willing partner.

It’s new to you too. Don’t know why it’s so hard for some of you to accept Khan has a different style than Colbert. It’s not a bad thing and it’s not bashing Colbert. They just have different approaches. It remains to be seen if Khans moves work out yet but it’s completely obvious he is different.

In 16 years I never heard Tomlin refer to Colbert as aggressive. I’m excited about it. Colbert was a good GM, hopefully Khan is even better.

Colbert was a good GM early, but he faded FAST, the past 10 years......

I don't know how in any way, shape, or form taking the best defensive player in the draft who plays a position that you're arguably going to need to fill within the next year or two is desperate? Its even more ridiculous to suggest it would have been a slap in the face to Kenny. Kenny doesn't even avg 1 td a game and as far as i'm concerned was fortunate to get selected by the Steelers to begin with. It's not like they haven't been working this entire off-season to improve the line in front of him. They've done more to fix that front line then any other group in the off-season. People talking like Kenny is a stud who performed in-spite of. He's shown he's avg at best thus far. That being said I'm not upset by the pick, but I don't think you would have had a whole lot of complaints if they had gotten Jalen either.

Desperate is moving up to take a guy that has questionable character. So glad we didn't do that nonsense ESPECIALLY when OT was the GLARING need. Enjoy your weekend.

But we got the guy WE really wanted. Someone that surely would've been a NY Jet if we didn't send the 4th round pick. We can't just view it through the lens that we gave up that 4th round pick to the Pats and they still get their guy. We got something out of it too. And that something is hopefully our LT of the future.

We weren't getting Gonzalez, but had a chance at getting Jones and all it cost was a 4th round pick that is a coin flip to even be on the roster by next year's draft. I wouldn't want us to be careless with our picks, but if that is the only way for us to get the guy we want... then do it. We didn't give up much. We can trade back at 32 if we are so inclined. We could trade Dotson for a pick. We have other options.
