I think the ability to draft a starting CB is worth more than a 5th round draft pick. You are going to lose Porter if you move back 10 spots in the 2nd. Everyone talked about the Steelers not trading away that #32 pick until they see who dropped on Day 1. Guess what, it is Joey Porter who dropped on Day 1.

I would stay right where I am with #32, #49, and #80 on Friday.

After Porter ran his 4.4 at the combine, I never thought Pittsburgh could get both Porter and a starting LT in this draft.

Or do nothing and get Porter if they actually want him

I've been watching Joey Porter Jr for the last couple years. I'm not quite sure where all the hype comes from. From my end there were a lot of holding and pass interference calls.

He's going to be good. I saw that clip of him playing hockey. Big man like that playing on skates, I don't think his balance and footwork are ever going to be an issue.

Isn't that a given due to officiating standards in the NFL now. Every CB gets stung by this but I know what you're saying.

I don't think there are any more blue chip players. Just a lot of very good ones. So trading back for extra picks is actually the best decision if we can find a partner.

Alright, I begrudgingly buy your argument :)

But wheeling and dealing feels so good :)

Lots of fans were pounding the table for Gonzalez when we traded up, but if we had taken him, we would have been desperate for a tackle at pick 32, and might have settled on Dawand Jones.

Me personally, I like the combo of Broderick Jones & Porter Jr (if we take him), much better than Gonzalez & Dawand Jones.

I expect that JP Jr will be the guy, but I would personally take Cam Smith instead. It’s close, but at the end of the day I like Cam’s versatility better. Porter is better in press man vs. bigger receivers, but Smith is like a 6’1” Joe Haden. He can play press or off, and zone.

    They’re moving back.

Moving back and still getting one of these guys is a win win:

    Porter
    Branch
    Smith

Imagine if we didn't trade Claypool. Good deal at the time and even better now with the position it gives us.

I would love to get one of them, but if we trade back A) pick 33 is Arizona, and they've been shopping Budda Baker, so they may be looking at Branch and B) while Detroit mangled the first round, with pick 34 they'll probably get the CB they didn't get at 6 when Witherspoon went off the board.

What can we expect to receive if we move this pick? Recoup the 4th? Would be awesome if we could turn it into another 3rd.

Yeah, definitely could lose out on all of them which goes against Colberts rule of not moving unless you are sure you can still get your guy but as we are quickly learning, Khan ain’t Colbert.

How was Nolan Smith still on the board at 30?

Might be able to pick up #100 from LV if they really want Levis or Hooker, but think we'll be lucky to get a 4th and a 5th or 6th. They're not going to want to drop too far unless someone makes them an offer they can't refuse. Most of the trades after Houston to 3 yesterday were very undervalued according to the charts. Lot's of 4th rounders to move up 1 or 2 spots.
